hello friends! I had so much fun working on this plushie and it's reminding me that I need to be a lot better about setting aside actual time for making personal projects that are just for me. pinterest always knows what you want! It's like magic. Also, trim edges of fur fabrics before seaming to create flat seams, if you can be bothered that is(technically, fold over, pin mark space between plush in order not to overtrim the fur). You could also trim seams inside. Super cute job however!

Ooh, thanks for the advice! I didn't have problems with my seams with this project, i think because I used a sherpa, not a proper fur fabric? I'd love to try using fur fabrics sometime though! They look very intimidating to me.

When I first started elementary school, I remember getting really excited when the teacher would flip through pages she was about to pass out. Very basic creative excitement. Seeing you flip through the pattern tapped into that. Thank you for sharing!

Best way to do appliqué with a regular sewing machine is to not cut out the piece that goes on top but to instead trace the pattern of it onto the back of the bottom fabric (don’t add seam allowance to this tracing), layer the two fabrics together (right sides the same way, use a cut of the top fabric large enough to cover the entire area) pin it and sew along the line you traced, then carefully cut away the excess on top while leaving a slight bit of extra for the thread to grasp >_< I sometimes go back over it with a zigzag stitch afterwards if the fabric is super slippery or thin I don’t know what this process is called as I discovered it on accident but it’s a lot faster than hand sewing and makes a good looking plush!

I suffered the same issue with the misplacement of the apliques and found that just a tiny touch with the glue gun helps keep those in place to be sewn... but beware because it is super hard to sew through the glue so avoid edges and use the tiniest bit because too much makes the fabric look odd... best wishes from argentina

Do you use a special foot for the plush? Also, I don't understand why you hand sewed the parts on and didn't use the machine?

I used a regular sewing foot! I hand sewed the appliques so that the stitching would be more invisible and I hand sewed the last part (to close the plush) because the fabric was too thick to send through my machine. I also just prefer hand sewing, I think it looks prettier 😅

You should try it!! I don't think it was a very technically challenging make, and you can definitely do the project by hand (especially if you try the smaller sizes)!
