YJM MXR Overdrive VS DOD250 "grey specs"(modded by Modest Mike)

This is just a quick test of the amazing Yngwie Malmsteen’s new overdrive pedal released just a few days ago: the YJM MXR Overdrive.
This has been recorded unprofessionally with just a phone so I ’d recommend you to use headphones for a better appreciation of how it sounds.
Also, as I already have the DOD-250 with the grey specs ( modded by Modest Mike)why not to compare these two amazing pedals?

What marshall amp and speaker are you using? Ok nevermind please tell me your entire rig ! Even with phone recording, that sounds awesome! I need to know how you nailed that tone. It's spot-on , its so quiet clean and dialed in !

Well, the DOD sounds more like Yngwie, that early classic tone and even though the MXR has some of that, it is more like a ''regular'' overdrive and this one has more gain! Dod is less gain and a bit more muddy (or maybe could just be my amp. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

Dod sounds more musical tbh. The Fender Ynwie sounds closer imho😊

Well, for me is a bit hard because I'm a big fan of Yngwie's early tone so I prefer the DOD which with my amp and speaker sounds a bit muddy. But for newer tones the MXR sounds better.

the DOD has a bit more bottom but both sound very sweet on the higher end

Yes!, I agree, the only problem (not sure is because of the amp/speaker I'm using) is that sounds a bit more muddy!. But both sound great tbh.

Well I think it depends on what you are playing. I would say that if you're playing Ynwie's old songs, the DOD is key. For newer albums the MXR (this one has more gain too). Thanks for watching and commenting!!

Yeah, honestly I believe that the DOD-250 will be always more expensive It's like old classic Yngwie's tone. The MXR was only $129 USD.
