I believe this song’s inspiration is originally this version is based off folk singer Jake Holmes’ version with the same title that Jimmy Page (Zeppelin Guitarist) beard performed. Original version is about an acid trip.

I think Jimmy Page was in the Yardbirds at the time. You will find a lot of their songs to be covers/reimaginations. They are still great though
