Fantastic, a truly new interpretation of Kapustin's Op 40 No 1. As good as the original Kapustin interpretation - but re-invented. I love the "gentle" touch he added to it.

@@ciararespect4296 I have Hamelins CD and in my opinion 13 year old Yoav is even more magnificent. Each pianist looks at this music from a different perspective as a painting is viewed from different angles. Which is best really depends on your personal taste and opinion of artistic excellence. I prefer Yoav over the composer himself.

I've heard many brilliant interpretations of this piece, but Yoav brings so much nuance and details to it. He's not just showing off how good or fast he can play, he's pulling his heart into the music, minding every little detail. It's no longer about virtuosity, it's about making a musical work his own.

This is a great version, but I tend to enjoy interpretations that stick to strict time - no rubato (Kapustin's recording is a good example). As a jazz musician, hearing it come out of time when it is such an intensely rhythmic piece is disorienting.

Seriously?! 13?! God, playing rach 2 and kapustin etude 1, and wearing Gulda's fit. Edit: AND THE TEMPO!!!!! Aaarrgh impossible! One thing I didn't like is after the reprise of the opening, you made everything more delicate, which I don't think it should be that way, seeing it as a jazz solo on a given tune.
