A drive through North Beverly, Chicago, part one

Join me for a leisurely Saturday morning drive through an area that may change your perception of Chicago's southwest side. If I hadn't told you where we were, you might have guessed Winnetka, or an equally affluent patch of Chicago's north shore.
North Beverly is bounded by the Dan Ryan Woods Forest Preserve to the north, 95th St on the south, and ranges east from the country clubs along Western Ave to the forest preserve and Beverly Ave. Hop on the Metra's Rock Island line at the 91st St station, and you'll be downtown in 24 minutes.

My dad grew up in Beverly off of W 95th on S Leavitt street. I think they lived there for 7 years before moving out to the western suburbs. We still stop by Rainbow during the summer!

I grew up on 90th and Leavitt...........lived there from like 1955 to 1973.....

When I was a small Boy my Parents would drive through Beverly to look at the Christmas lights at night...It was beautiful and I knew we were poor...But happy...

Was nice to see my Old Neighborhood.......Grew up there from 1955-1973, thou I left in 71 for Military Service..........never went back...........Lived near 90th and Leavitt.......

@whitesoxpride773 I know, I live there. There are a bunch of culvasacs and you can't get out of the neighborhood.

I've spent a lot of time in Southern CAlifornia, and a fair amount in Pasadena. I'd agree with your assessment, with one major difference. Beverly isn't close to anything like Pasadena proper.
