Thanks Joe! This reminds me of a time when I was taking a yoga sculpt class and the instructor was adamant that we "turn off" our hip flexors in navasana, and use our core instead. I was so puzzled haha! Love your channel 🙂

Great explanation! I really appreciate the way you use the band to mimic the muscles being used. I have seen so many diagrams but they are static and it's hard to envision what they are doing. I also appreciate the "flexibility" offered to practitioners to make the pose work for each body. Some people are so strict about perfection that it takes the joy right out of movement. There is always room for improvement--that's why we practice!

Thanks! I'm glad it helped to clarify things. And definitely, agreed about having flexibility to adapt movement to the individual

Will the lumbar flexion add unnecessary load if one had disc bulging in the past?
@JoeMiller108
@JoeMiller108 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'm not a doctor, so I can't answer that for any specific person. But spinal flexion can put more load on bulging discs. Core strengthening exercises where the spine is neutral, such as planks, may be better than exercises like navasana.
