I've been a carer for several years and sadly I had to rely on public and other people's toilets. Nearing 4 years in the job, no I'm not used to it. It always felt wrong and that dread is completely understandable to me. I think it's out of concern for stinking up their house.

Unfortunately, Lewis & Sips aren't the only ones who feel this way. It's even worse with women. At my office, i the bathroom stalls, nobody would poop or fart if anyone else was in there to hear it. What the heck?! This is a room that only exists explicitly for these bodily functions. Basically all of us have to do it. It's not a secret that you sometimes need to poop. You'd be much more likely to keep something like a colostomy bag secret. It made me feel like I shouldn't do it, either, because if they're afraid of being judged for it, they'll probably judge me, right? Too bad! I don't want to perpetuate this. I'm all for taking care of business at home, but sometimes you need to go elsewhere. We've recognized this need to the extent that in many places, there are laws requiring the availability of public restrooms. Lots of people have medical conditions that affect this need, and they shouldn't have to tell you about it. Honestly, in my experience, most people prefer to poop at home, anyway. It's more comfortable. Don't make it more awkward than it needs to be. Also, yeah, food in a vagina is generally a terrible idea. At the very least, use a condom.

I'm with flax on this one, I've shit at other peoples houses, and they've shat at mine. If I gotta go, I'm gonna go. And if you don't like the idea of others bums on your seats, then do what I do and use Glen 20 (other disinfectant sprays are available) and spray and wipe the seat before you sit- much more hygienic too. I just hate it when people don't spray after the shit.

Having Crohn's i appreciate pyrions stance, everybody poops, i know what comes out my arse is nearly nuclear, i do my best to clean up and deal with any smell lol, however the sips no upstairs is something i came across as a kid quite a bit (pre diagnosis). People are weird about their home bathrooms but you can be as weird as you like about it, if im in your house and i need to go then its either your toilet or your sofa i aint got much choice about holding. I poop at least 4 times a day, on a good day, odds are if im in your home im pooping at least twice, i will bleach, clean, and spray. Normalise pooping xoxo

I dont have Crohn's but I too generally shit 3 to 5 times a day. I don't mind people pooping at my place. However, I am with Sips. I have a bathroom attached to my bedroom and also has a door out towards the living room as well. That toilet is off limits to everyone but myself and my wife. We have a bathroom out by to "common" area, by the living room, kitchen, dining room. That is the bathroom for everyone else.

I can really see the whole shitting at someone's house from both people's perspective, keeping in mind Sips is a dad with young kids and likely young kid friends. My guess - Poopfeast420 had some friends that were playing around outside then they come in *only to take a shit*. I think even pflax can agree, ONLY going into someone's house to shit is kinda gross/rude. On the flip side, literally in any other case of people shitting in one's house - it's expected and preferred to shitting in your pants on our sofa. I endeavor not to do a poop outside my own house (whether out in public or at a friend's house) and think the considerate thing would be to try to do your business before you leave the house to decrease the odds you'll have to at someone else's... but it's a two-way street and if it comes down to it obviously you gotta poop somewhere and I think whoever is hosting the gathering should be considerate about that as well. EDIT: I also have a downstairs guest bathroom and would not want anyone else using either of my upstairs toilets - one is inside my bedroom where I do not welcome guests and the other is in the hall but is my daughter's and embarrassingly messy.

For the first part, I'm with Flax that people can poop in other people's toilets if they need to. But for the second part, with having a bathroom that guests dont use, I'm with Lewis and Sips. I'm talking about when a guest would go through my bedroom and go into my bathroom. Ideally, the guest would use the bathroom on the 1st floor or nearest the living room, etc (which is what I think Sips is trying to say). If the other bathroom is occupied, then I do let a guest in my bedroom-bathroom, but I would still feel an invasion of privacy as they enter me and my family's rooms. Or the guest could be snooping around or steal something upstairs. I would let a guest poop at my house, but personally I try to avoid pooping at someone else's house or at a public toilet.

Loving the podcast as always, having a binge to catch up on the last few, In regards to Sips' comments on other peoples opinions not effecting him/pyrion as much as it would other people because they "share a life wth someone, have created other people" (around the 13min mark) while i don't disagree that this may be the case, it may be more that is the effect rather than the cause, e.g they have found someone to share their lives with because they are willing to accept/can deal with other peoples differing opinions rather than, they found someone therefore they are more tolerant if that makes sense, this is going off the idea that a closed minded person will struggle to find someone to share their life with because they arent willing to comprimise or agree to disagree, so they need to find someone who shares their exact beliefs and morals because any sort of disagreement is a major issue, the torerlance or closed mindedness is the cause, the abilty/inability to then bond with another person is the effect, ngl I'm a little high so i don't expect many people will be able to decypher what im trying to say, I'm bad at explaining at the best of times, regardless, fucking love you guys, stay safe and keep on keeping on :)

Pyrion, before you even said I would like to hear the comments on the pooping scenario I too was confused, just rest assured in the knowledge that Sip's and Lewis's strange dread over taking an actual human poo in an toilet is indeed bizarre. Unless the toilet was a glass box placed centrally in the living room, and you had to waive at the hosts mid plop, what could possibly be the issue? I personally try not to poop in people's houses unless they are really close friends, but that is 100% my own anxiety. If someone needs to poo in my house go for it. However I am not letting people in my en suite. I had a 2.5 bathroom house and the upstairs + downstairs hallway bathrooms were fair game, but going in my bedroom is a no no.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I'm SORT OF with Sips and Lewis. HOLD ON HEAR ME OUT! I don't mind people pooping in my house. That's what they're for. IF I had a second bathroom there would definitely be a designated guest bathroom that I would guide them to. I personally won't (if I don't have to) poop at someone elses house. I do kinda feel ashamed of it possibly because I'm a girl, but mostly because I have IBS and I do sometimes have to spend more time in there than 5 minutes. (We're talking 15-30 minutes or so) I have left places to go home and poop and then come back. I've also gone home from shopping or something EARLY so that I can go home and poop. My mom is the same way. She has 2 bathrooms and hers is downstairs and her husbands is upstairs. When he's not home I think she'll pee upstairs but if she has to poop or shower she uses her bathroom. I have ONE friend who I'm totally okay using their bathroom to poop because we've been best friends for 20 years and we've lived together and she knows everything about me and my poops and my body because girls talk about everything lol. Again, I have ZERO issues with someone using MY toilet to poop, I personally just don't like/don't feel comfortable pooping at someone elses house.
