Especially Americans. I always assumed Europeans ate out more just because it's easier to walk to a restaurant or cafe than the a grocery store where they from what I've heard shop daily. Where as growing up here everyone I knew always shopped with their parents at a big grocery store once or twice a week & ate at home all the time with leftovers & new meals & that tradition is just the same thing I do as a 20 year old still. There at least in my house been a stigma against eating out as expensive & wasteful.

P.Flax should try to expand the choices with his kids and their veggies. My friend whose actually older than me by a FLIPPING *DECADE* won't eat vegetables when I have them over, but I experimented and made dishes of one kind of veggie or another. Turns out she'll actually gobble up meals that are mostly onion, mushroom, eggplant, brussels, and radishes, just she won't touch anything else. So trying all of them is a good option. If all else fails there's always the funnel...

The reason you can often eat a full desert after a meal, is because the feeling of "being full" is actually mostly your brain getting bored with the food you've eaten. This is mostly psychological; meaning that you have the room in your stomach (it expands), but need the room in your head. Also Hamburgers are from Germany.

The thing I find about cooking is it's best not learning to cook specific dishes from recipes, but learning to cook the base foodstuffs themselves. If you only know how to make certain dishes then you're going to be screwed if you don't have the exact ingredients. But if you just know how to cook the constituent parts then you can chuck whatever you have together to make up your own dishes and they will mostly taste great.

I'm 29 and I cook every night, I take care of my elderly mother, making lunch and dinner for both of us. I do the grocery shopping on Saturdays and plan out on the go what I'm making for every night of the week. Where the most simple dish I make is a serving of meat, be it Chicken, Pork or fish, sided with roasted pumpkin, carrot or sweet potato and steamed broc & cauli. I'll also make curries, stews or rice dishes that last for 2 nights worth of dinners and lunches. If I'm feeling lazy I'd make a pumpkin, carrot and leak soup. Friday's are my only "cheat" nights where we get takeout. I'm always experimenting with new ways of making food, trying different spices and finding healthier alternatives. I'll probably spend a good 1.5 hours a night cooking. So there's a few of us out there that love to cook 😊
