superstan 110 mars's atmosphere is mostly co2 also we haven't been to Mars yet even if you could breath on Mars you would be killed by the cold or radation from the sun mars has no magnetic field so that poses the problem of solar wind in other words NO they filmed it on earth

It’s the main theme from the Jeff Wayne album ‘War of the Worlds’ based on the book by H. G. Wells. Its a really good album and well worth a listen. The reason they are singing it is that it refers to Mars in the lyrics. Edited: As Piranhafish123 states in his answer below, it’s Jeff Wayne, not Jeff Lynne, as I had originally stated. Sorry about that.
