Heh, doing some research, and I found out that 18 Wheels of Steel Extreme Trucker 2 was developed by SCS Software, the same people who went on to make Euro Truck Sim. Guess they really are the only good truck sim dev.

When the gulf of Bothnia freezes over in winter, my dad, grandma and I sometimes drive out into the archipelago outside the city of Luleå and visit islands via roads on the ice that are made for that sort of traffic. It's so cool to park the car in the midst of the archipelago, on the ice, and look around. You can barely see any land in any direction. It feels very desolate. :)

@106215617036816724710 I understand that! I was, too, when I was a kid and the thickest ice I had ever seen was only as thick as my wrist or even less. But this ice can go down several metres. I have a fear of deep water ever since I saw Titanic, so I should be scared of that. The scariest feeling about the whole experience on the ice is for me the feeling of absolute solitude, and the powerlessness that one would feel if left on the ice with no means of transportation. At night it would be even more terrifying, not just because of the darkness (it doesn't have to be dark; the aurora borealis is frequent up there) but also the silence and plummeting temperatures. Brrr, that's scary to even think about.

18 Wheels of Steel is one of the first games I have ever played on the computer. I loved how you could put your own music into the music folder and it would play it for you in the truck radio as you drove along a beautiful virtual world. Good video and nice to see the game is still around expanding!

Not sure if it's the same tonka truck game, but I had one that had this dashboard with a steering wheel, stick shift and key to turn that you would put over your keyboard to play. Omg the nostalgia, so many good games I remember from when I was a kid that are most likely totally shit if I was to play them now. haha

Ah Tonka Construction, I have fond childhood memories of playing that game. I also had 'Tonka Fire and Rescue' and 'Tonka Raceway'. They were the pinnacles of gaming.
