Moving to Japan? This video is about military housing in Yokosuka, Japan. This is a detailed house tour is of a 3 bedroom tower located on the main base. You have the option between a townhouse and apartment-style living in a tower. We chose a tower because of the space.
Thanks for watching our channel! We are a military family who recently moved to Japan (Nov 2018) My husband and I have been married for 18 years and have 3 wonderful children. As a military spouse of almost 18 years, I know what it can be like moving to another country. We lived in Spain as well. I hope my page inspires, informs, educates and makes you laugh! Follow us on this wonderful journey of living in Japan.
If I can help answer any questions if you are moving to Yokosuka, please don't hesitate to reach out.

@@djcaspermarine might be Ume Heights, could be wrong though The layout for the apartment I stayed in was the exact same as this one, just mirrored, and the lobby was very similar.

I grew up there from '00-'06 in Asagao Heights next to your tower! Huge nostalgia trip for me with soo many good memories! That’s Yoko MS in the vid. It used to be a giant open field where they would hold a bunch of soccer and flag football games. I actually used to play golf on that field and skateboard around the pavilion just outside the fence lol. My favorite thing to do in that tower was race the elevator by going down the main stairway. All the closet doors and cabinets were plane white back then, but still looks the same as I remember :') Thanks for the video. I hope I get to go back some day with my family.

Same here! We were in Satsuki '01 to '07 - when those towers just opened the cabinets were kind of white or off white and the floors were white. Those floors were so hard to clean and would scratch right away. I'd imagine all the scratches now from all those move ins, so I guess they opted to put tile carpets on them (great idea and much better).

We’ve never lived on base before but on our next pcs my husband wants to try and go to a country where English isn’t the main language and he again, doesn’t want to live on base. I’d like to try it as I feel like I could be more social that way and it would make things a little easier but the main thing both of us are worried about is privacy. Apparently people can just let themselves in or at least demand to be let into your apartment/house whenever they want? Whereas living off base they can’t do that and you don’t have to let them in. I’m especially worried about that aspect as his last supervisor was absolutely horrible and used to shout at me (spouse) and our baby, even my husband, in public and one time had us all crying in the parking lot outside dental on base. Then he threatened to “follow us home again” and another time I had gone out and came home to find him and his muscle man goon at my house demanding to be let in then refusing to leave and blocking me from leaving. In the end police came and said if they try that again then call them. SECFO on base just told me “yeah he sounds like an asshole but there’s nothing illegal about that”. So basically I just want to be left alone and not be worried men are gonna be forcing their way in to my private space. If anyone knows about the rules on that kind of thing if you live on base, it would be such a help! Thank you

Did you guys have to downsize a lot before moving? That place has the smallest amount of storage I have ever seen in any military housing. Thanks for sharing!
@wearetheyoungbloods
@wearetheyoungbloods 5 жыл бұрын
Tamara Yvonne yes we did. We moved from a 4 bedroom townhouse. The storage is not that bad considering I did store a lot back in the states. When I knew we were coming here, I took a few months to really sort through ALL of our belongings to see if I really wanted it anymore, or if I wanted to store it. You don’t realize how much you really have until you move. Because of that, there really isn’t a need to store a lot of things I’m not going to use for awhile anyway. I hope that helps!

Where do married, but unaccompanied sailors live when in port? Any idea?
@wearetheyoungbloods
@wearetheyoungbloods 5 жыл бұрын
Dennis Doss depending on rank and if you have a family back home it depends. Some single sailors live in Barricks with other sailors and some live on a ship if they are assigned to one because they have a family back home that is receiving BAH. I think that is how it works, but you may have to contact your command to verify. I am not active duty so I am not 100% sure. That is what I know from people who I have met who are unaccompanied. I hope that helps.
