That is possibly the most legit anger I’ve EVER heard from Dan. I can almost guarantee they had an off-camera conversation like, “Fine, we can do the Halloween make-up thing, but seriously NO jump scares, they fuck up my singing voice and we’re in the middle of recording an album.” So this was 30 glorious (in hindsight) seconds of Dan getting scared, immediately feeling what it did to his throat, and giving his best friend an honest, infuriated lecture for breaking his trust and possibly ruining a crucial recording session. Like, the cacophony makes it sound like a bit, but I really don’t think Dan was fucking around here.

Pretty sure Made in Abyss isnt described as a horror series yet it has monsters that mimic their victims to bring more people to it thinking someone is calling for help and pretty much everything involving the curse of the abyss and Bondrewd. Indie developers in games are kind of modeling their games after that too considering all the cutesy horror themed stuff lately too.

@@OsnosisBones that's true, and i'll never forget what happened in madoki magica, but the reason i specified japanese horror is because that's where the rule can be relied upon. a cute anime might just be a slice of life and you have to watch it to find out, and sometimes western indie devs can forget to add the extra fuckedness and end up with just a cute horror game that isn't especially fucked up. but by that same token, as you said, that cute slice of life could turn out to be a zombie apocalypse and everything you saw before were just delusions of one of the characters, and there are plenty of western indies who get why this formula works and adjust their games accordingly.

I have to say something to you guys, maybe nobody cares, but funny enough, 3 days after the release of this episode my beloved dog died. It's funny because when I first watched the episode I was scared of this happening to her but kinda brushed it off as silly. But now it happened. My beautiful princess has died. I just wanted to tell someone. The pain is immeasurable. But I remain strong, weeping but strong. Take care of your pets ladies and gentleman, even though something beyond your power happens, you can rest assured you gave them the best they could have.
