The review we've all been waiting for 😆 glad to hear that the stability is much improved vs the 305, that's the only thing I've ever had against the Ezone line is that stability isn't 100% without adding lead to 3 and 9. Interesting comment about the OHBH too... I struggled with the OHBH with the AI/DR98s when I first picked them up, but after a full term of using them exclusively they're just fine - any OHBH users thinking of switching definitely need to account for a bit of a transitional period. Great review!

Awesome review, I find the more recent ezone 98s to play quite different to the stand out previous iterations of the XI98, AI98 and the fan favourite DR98. I found them to play quite hollow and lacking the overall mass and feel of the original DR98. Really enjoyed this comprehensive review.

Great review, and very important for me! Having a one-handed backhand, the maneuverability is a key criteria, as I need to be able to whip the racquet quickly, but having demoed the 98 Tour, I suspected it was a bit too beefy....very important to know that others agree. I'm now leaning more towards the VCore Pro 98 310 or the new 320 with the 18x20 string configuration. 320 gms. but more HL and a 20mm beam dimension all-round would seem to make it more maneuverable, but still powerful enough. Would be fascinated to hear your thoughts...

Thanks mate - HD is nicer balance and everything, so better for 1H but still a decently heavy racquet, very small sweet spot, and quite demanding overall because of it's lack of forgiveness Honestly i think the forgotten one of the bunch is Vcore Pro 310 - does everything well and has space to customize if its not enough weight, great for 1H, more forgiving and good spin, also not super stiff, just firm

Appreciate the feedback! I'm still trying to decide between the HD and the 310. Last night, I demoed the Head Prestige MP (320gm, 18x20) almost identical to the HD and I loved it, particularly on serve, but not sure how my elbow might hold-up to the weight long term. As the 310 is "only" 16x19, but has 97" frame compared to the Prestige's 98", I'm assuming that may help provide some extra control...is that a correct train of thought ??

@@Francisyrah Pure Strike in general is more powerful than the Ezone Tour by a noticeable margin, and that is without the added weight or swingweight for plowthrough - so Ezone Tour will generate it's power from the heft, but it's not straight up as powerful as the Pure Strike So if you go to Pure Strike Tour that will be given more powerful because it has raw power + the heft Pure strike is on the stiffer side than not as you say, so yeah for sure look after your physical health first and don't overplay with stiff strings or stiff racquets if they are too much for you to handle

I ended up sticking with the 305g 98. Seems like the difference in weight between this and the 305g is mostly in the head as I prefer a whippier frame. Customizing the Tour to get the balance to what I liked made it heavier than I wanted, so I ended up just adding a leather grip to the 305g and counterbalanced it a little bit but not completely by adding 6g total at 10 and 2. Pretty happy with it so far

It plays the same as the 630 if they are at the same weight. Exact same layup, still made in Austria. Just missing lead added in the hairpin. 630 very soft and plush, noticeable flex on most strokes. 2.0 a bit more firm, similarly great plush pocketing but more juice on groundstrokes and serves.

I'm waiting for my tour to arrive. I'm nowhere near as good a hitter as you, but I'm hoping that my less whippy forehand motion manages the weight balance ok. If not, I'm still loving the 305, although a little torn with the radical pro as well!

Since you also made a review of Prestige 360+ MP, which I am considering to make my go to racket, but was also intrigued by Ezone Tour 98, I wanted to ask, if you find Ezone Tour significantly more powerful? Because the only knock I have on stock form 360+ Prestige MP is it really lacks that finishing punch (even my cousin, who plays some futures and is good for ATP top 1000 has it as the only complain). Do you find the tour more sluggish than Prestige, and how would you estimate the trade-off between these rackets with regards to power-manoeuvrability for baseline grinder relying on top spin shots and creating various angles?

Thanks man, you guys are some high level players! Ezone Tour in stock is definitely far more powerful, also stability is also better due to the swingweight differemces Like i mention, if you are strong enough or your swing style is simple, allowing you to maintain a healthy racquet head speed on the ezone tour at 4pts HL and 330 SW, you will generate some great deal of power through it's plow through capabilities Maneuverability wise, if you like heavier frames like 345-350g, then you can get to that with weight in the handle, and it will fix the maneuverability - for me i had to shorten my swing in stock to manage the balance because i generally prefer at least 6pts HL minimum As for top spin, in my opinion, by no means a heavy spin potential, it's lower than what you might expect, just as the 305g was, but still more than PMP360+, i recommend sharp bitey string So if you weight up your PMP already, i dont think it's too hard to transition. even if it is a change, it's adaptable, and a better racquet if you can handle it

I do not find it difficult to generate spin with Prestige MP, but adding lead to the stock form makes the racket too slugish to execute some "wristy" shots with pace. Would really like to keep it at 340 g. total. Will see if hybrid with VS Team in the mains at lower tension (as you suggested!) will save the day for the Prestige. Thank you once again!

Yep i believe so, everything but spin, i think spin is not too good on both 305 and Tour considering what kind of racquets they are, but maybe if you use a good spin string it will help alot, but other than that, much better on groundstrokes Just be careful, because the balance is quite head heavy, but no problem if you like racquets heavy, around 350g up to 360g using leather grip and other weight if you need

Assuming you buy a Gravity Pro on spec with a swingweight in low 330s, the Gpro is faster because of beam width, more headlight and easier to swing in general, comfort is relatively better, can get away with a few more stiffer strings than Ezone, feel is nicer as Ezone is very muted and not as plush Gpro is more powerful (only because it's easier to generate faster swing speed, but if all was equal than Ezone would have better plow Ezone is better for serving and stability. but doesnt mean Gpro is bad, just 2 things it does a bit better Both are forgiving but nothing has the sweet spot the size of any Gravity

Awesome review. I have always played with Babolat, currently using the PureStrike 98 Gen2. I had demoed the new PureStrike Gen3 and the standard Ezone 98 strung at 48 lbs but found that PureStrike was more comfortable and solid at contact. The Ezone felt stiffer and head light compared to the PureStrike. Would you say that the new Ezone Tour would be a much closer racquet in comparison to the new PureStrike instead of the standard Ezone? Thanks,

Thanks! Ezone Tour is more about the heft and control as its focus, because spin generation is olaay but not super bitey like PSG3, and you need to be either accustomed to higher weights or be strong to maintain racquet head speed Actually the PSG3 is one of my favourite racquets at the moment, it has a ton of power and spin, but the control side is alot better than the Drive and Aero, it's also much more user friendly than the Ezone Tour But if you think the weights no issue,, the Ezone is a great racquet for sure, and a ton of people really seem to love it

Thanks Justin, i'm generally a dampner guy so we might differ in that aspect, but usually muted racquets are ok to use for me without dampner or just very raw no fancy tech racquets, so Wilson Blade v7, Ultra Pro and many Prince racquets in the Phantom line, basically all Phantoms can be used nicely without dampner

Thanks mate, since 305 is more headlight, im sure you could try adding 2g each side at 10&2, and 2g at 3&9, that should make it much closer to the 330ish swingweight, i still would recommend counter balance the 8g in the handle though, because the Tour ended up swinging a bit slow

I kept modifying with a stanley knife until it was sorted so Im not sure on the exact weight of each piece. This review is great. How would you say the pop off the frame is compared to the Wilson Blade v7 18x20? I like higher SWs and play 4.5 level. The only thing I find myself wanting is a little more easy depth and penetration on 50-70% power swings. For example, with a Wilson Ultra Tour, I find that stringing in the low 40s and swinging out hard the whole time gets me where I can hit through the other player. The Blade I don't have to swing as fast so often. Does the yonex tour provide a little more free power there ?

I'd say if you can maintain your swing speed at it's swingweight, and if the balance affects (add the leather) you'll find a really nice pop off the Yonex, more so than the Blade 18x20, especially if you pair it with a more powerful poly - PTP really is a good balance, i used Lynx Tour 2nd time around, and got a little less out of it You probably wouldn't need to go as low in this, around 45-48lbs - it really packs a lethal punch if you swing through it completely

My main issue is I use a lot of energy sometimes to hit through an opponent with the Ultra Tour. Its a little less effort with the Blade v7, but still a lot. Thanks so much for this review. I'm transitioning from my old APD (2013) and have been demoing lots of racquets to find a new fit. I've recently fallen in love with the Wilson Blade v7 - 16x19. I feel like it gives me significantly better control, feel, and connection to the ball. The Pure Strike (16x19) was good as well, but felt like I still was over hitting and couldn't quite reign in the pop off the string bed. If you were to compare this frame directly to those two (most importantly, to the Blade v7), where would you place it? How does it feel directly compared to the Blade? Thanks mate! one thing i learnt recently about Babolats is that Power comes first, i didn't realize that (maybe i'm just slow) but the Aero is Power Spin, Drive is Power Speed and Strike is Power Control - power comes first, and i thought the strike was genuinely just a more control orientated racquet, but the power is still monstrous and more than any of my other racquets i typically play and review (Also have a new blade review up from few days ago if you haven't seen) Ezone Tour is a solid racquet overall if you enjoy playing with high static weights and probably don't have a big / loopy swing. Blade and Strike will cut through the air a ton faster and be much more user friendly in comparison It has a similarish muted feel to the Blade, but its low headlight balance at that static weight is much more difficult to swing and fatter beam width aswell Power is not too far apart, but the Ezone will have a ton more plowthrough, and won't need any additional weight to the hoop, but definitely needs it in the handle Ezone will be more control focused but provides a little less spin If you're new to player frames, Blade will be a great starting option, and down the track you just need to additional weight to fix its flaws, but you probably won't notice them unless you're already advanced Hope that helps!

I've spent even more time with the Blade now, and the only thing I miss from my AeroPro Drive (2013) is a little power and pop off the string bed for serves. I think it's because of the 62 RA. The Blade feels even more maneuverable and head light than the Pure Strike. Can you feel a significant difference in the balance and swing weight of the 16x19 Blade vs. this Ezone Tour? It sounds like it would give me the pop from the serves that I'm looking for, but might not be as easy and fun to use in other aspects...

@@bfacta07 @Benjamin Dutcher Yeah you need added weight to punch through the ball on the Blade, was the same with counterveil versiom but it already had a 66 RA stiffness so it packed more power All ezones are great for serving, actually most Yonexs are - the tradeoff for the ezone tour to get the serve going and make everything else more difficult may be a heavy price to pay though I have 0 struggles with blade balance, but ezone tour requires some readjustment in terms of strength building for me, definitely need to add weight to handle IMO otherwise it's very difficult to log around unless you want to 100% commit to it knowing so

I've had 2 short opportunities to play with it, but never in my own setup, all the specs indicate that it would be totally suited for my game style, except maybe the static weight, i could reduce a little bit with a lighter grip - i'll need to give it another whirl some time , i know it's supposed to be pretty good! I'm all good with frames like Gravity, Blade, RF97, PT2.0, not too bad in terms of handle for my game - i could make a switch to this if i fully committed, need to build up that strength, i might even try decreasing the weight with thinner strings and such and see how it goes

I have this racquet and I like it for all the reasons you listed. Big flat serves, stable as heck. But yes not too maneuverable. What are your recommendations for soft spin friendly polys I could try? And what tension would you suggest. I currently use yonex ptp 17 gauge. I think Yonex did a good job in increasing the static weight (stability), but pity that they tampered with the balance. This should be at least a couple of points HL, hence the manoeuvrability issues you encountered.

@the supernatural Thanks! ezone Tour is likely better to serve with and more stable on volleys, but GPro volleys are not terrible though, still holds up GPro will be easier to use from baseline, thinner beam and larger sweetspot will make it easier to use overall But if serves and volleys are your weapons, ezone is noticebly better in these categories and still decent from baseline, just not as forgiving as Gpro

Nice review!! How would you compare this to a radical pro 98 and pro staff 97 (315 grams)?? I’m transitioning from a pure drive and looking for a smaller head and a bit more weight; looking for some free power and mainly more control. Thanks in advance!

Radical Pro and Pro Staff will be easier to transition to, it's been a while since i used the Radical Pro but i remember it being a little bit unstable and the feel being hollow because it was done without the 360+ spiral fibres, i think the Head Instinct will come out next followed up by the Radical series if i'm not mistaken Pro Staff 97 needs added weight but if you bulk it up, i've heard it's supposed to be a very good racquet - i've only played in stock and i personally still enjoyed it, but i wouldn't consider it a top tier racquet alone in stock form This racquet is a great racquet, but will be a huge change from Pure Drive, unless you're already using a Pure Drive Tour? the weight is going to be difficult to throw around for long periods if you're not accustomed to heavy racquets, but it performs very well in all categories I would consider looking at the Blade v7, Vcore Pro 97 310 or if you want to keep that power but add some control, you really should go for Pure Strike 16x19

I’ve been testing the RF Autograph for a couple of weeks, i like it but i dont find it manoeuvrable enough for me, especially on longer sessions. I did consider the vcore pro, but haven’t tested it yet. Why would you say the 16x19 instead of the 18x20? Would the 18x20 not give even more control? Thanks again!

@@alexfer17 Only assumption is that you are coming from Pure Drive so whatever might be easier for you to change to would be my first thought, 18x20 is definitely more control, but depends if on if you like high swingweights If you're already an intermediate to advanced or higher, than yeah by all means, 18x20 would be the go

I think I'm narrowing down to the EZone Pro and VCore Pro either HD or the 330g.. I just wouldnt want to lose too much power and spin... any thoughts??

Great video. Would this racket be a good choice to transition into from the gravity mp? I’m kinda concerned about adding like .7 oz of weight to the racket suddenly. I’m choosing between the tour, plus and Wilson blade right now. Any tips or suggestions?

Very heavy transition to go into the Tour or Plus model if you only use a Gravity MP Blade 16x19 is a better option, but depends, what are you looking for in a new racquet? and what level are you?

@@jinuhan9926 Wouldnt recommend a plus / extended handle version for anyone under intermediate, just means your swing and timing adjustments will need to change, Tour version is better than the plus, but they are both high in swingweight, both racquets in my opinion suit more intermediate to advanced Blade is good transition for going up a bit, its not overall heavy, but is heaier, and the swingweight is high enough for stability and control that you wont get from Gravity MP

@@jinuhan9926 Ezone more power less control, opposite for Blade, ezone will be easier to use off the bat and capable of much bigger serves Blade is noticeably more comfortable in feel, sweet spot size just a tad bigger and more forgiveness, more stable at net Top spin potential i would give slightly to Blade, but neither generate lots of free spin

Please help me. I’m currently using Wilson blade 98 v7 18*20, now i want to switch to the Ezone 98 tour. I’m a aggressive baseliner, double hand backhand. USTA rank is 4.5. I’m considering this Ezone, because i fund that i need a little bit more spin and power for a higher lunch angle without losing tons of control. Both rackets have same balance point and similar swing wight, should i consider this switching? What is the trade off if I switch to Ezone 98 tour from blade 98 18*20. Great reviews!

Thanks! Given that you already use the Blade 18x20 comfortably, then you might not have any issues at all converting, the only thing i can think of is the beam thickness, but the SW is lower on average, so might not matter at all In my mind, the Ezone Tour will do everything else better, volleys, serves, groundstrokes same or better, more power, actual spin potential will depend on the string you use, but launch angle itself should be more user friendly I only wouldn't recommend this racquet to people who don't use higher static weights, or relatively high swingweights, but if you are at that level or strength, by all means go for it

Yes definitely! i played with one that measured at 320 SW, it was great, but to find a Yonex that deviates so far off on spec is going go be very difficult

All depends on what you need, if you are a more advanced player need a heavier racquet, ezone tour is better in general, but the 100 would be better if you want more free power and spin and easy to handle

I play with the yonex vcore 330 how does this one compare to that one?

Seeing as you're used to heavy racquets already, this one may be more slightly maneuverable, more so if you add on leather grip or handle weight You'll probably get more a little more free raw power, where the 330 will give you more power through plow through, but Ezone also still provides good plow through anyway, so that will be different, but not extremely significant Spin potential at this stage i feel as Vcore will be bit better because of higher stiffness , but only a bit Biggest difference will be feel and touch, Ezone will be much easier on the arm and arguably more connection to the ball despite a more muted feel

I'd say Radical Pro is a nicer feeling racquet, though it might feel a bit firmer, i think Ezone Tour will give more problems with tennis elbow and wrist issues, has some sort of hidden stiffness but very dampened with the right string - Tour is alot more demanding due to high swingweight and low HL balance point They actually may not play too different at the same weight and swingweights, but if you can one for customization and all, i'd go with Radical Pro

Weight on the hoop of 305 version doesn’t solve any problem. It’s just an inconsistent stick you can’t even rally with it and stay with confidence into the point. Ezone line is dead since DR glory days. Nothing to look here, Vcore line is better.

Yeah i assumed the 305 the same with added weight, but i do believe the Ezone Tour is a different layup, one of the demos came in at 320 SW and about 6-7g under spec, it was super plush and great control, the one i bought was normal spec, just alot harder to handle but same properties
