Thanks much for this. We camp on Lake Superior every year, going up next week. We have found agates, sharks teeth, and even one small inclusion of Silver on a beach downstream from old, abandoned silver mines. This is the first year that we are looking for Yooperlites. As for the weather, my brother-in-law is from Gainesville - I worked building houses in the furnace heat there - in friggin April. I'd rather swim in 50 degree Lake Superior - which we do. Having lived in Georgia for awhile - I much prefer our cooler climate.

The one that was shining primarily yellow is an unusual one. They usually show up as that orange you found on the rest of them. ESPECIALLY with that blue fluorescing band going through it. Very facinating specimen you have found. If you go to to AE Seaman Mineral Museum In Houghten/Hancock area, and bring that one in to show them, they'll be more than happy to help you sort it out. Just don't actually call it Yooperlite, they are incredibly annoyed that someone trademarked a rock type-name, and get very insistent that its Sodalite. LOL (of course, that was half a year ago. Maybe they'll lighten up by the time you get back up there. ;) )

@@kelleylaughlin392 Thanks for starting the "fad" of yooperlites. We have been collecting these since 2005. We would find hundreds of these every night, and throw back the boring ones. Now that everyone is collecting them, they are few and far between. I'm glad we had a head start to collect thousands of these along every county of the U.P. bordering Lake Superior. It all started in Copper Harbor, and is now all over the Midwest.
