I just purchased an e-scooter last night, great timing on this video. Apparently in NSW you need a licence to ride one though and you can't ride on footpaths but you can't ride on roads with a limit over 50, basically you can't ride anywhere but that's not really stopping anyone.

In Qld we can ride on footpaths and zebra crossings. But we are being flooded with tourists and immigrants who don't know the local rules and road rage about such things. I'm not sure about other states, but in Queensland you can be booked for DUI on any mode of transport - horse, skateboard, bicycle, boat etc. As mentioned in the video, the fines and points all count against your drivers licence.

I remember working close the Rocks(NSW) at one sunday night (around 20h) and this old bloke dressed in a suit came riding his EScooter at top speed wich seemeed around 20ks, so anyway, we saw he was somewhat drunk but he went through and we forgot about him. 10m after the guy came again and hit a fucking sign in the footpath with his chest, I dont fking know how the hell he as able to do that being in the road, but I remember clearly, he hit it so hard that for half a second he was kinda like glued to the pole by his chest. He hit it ao hard that the pole bend and like almost 1y after we came back to work there and the and the metal bar was still bent. Poor guy, we offered some help, but he didnt want it, he hoped back in his escooter rode it off. (Learned english by myself, hopefully u guys can understand my text)

Most Australian states now classify electric scooters going faster than 25kph as Motor Cyles, and you better have your MC license and your helmet on if they spot you (Same as always needing a helmet on when riding a bicycle). Similar is electric ''mobility scooters'' going faster than 10kph, any going faster than that and it's also classified as a ''car'', and you could be done for driving that ''car'' recklessly on a footpath, plus need to have your car licence with you.
