This Scene was taken from the TV Series called "1864".
1864 is a 2014 Danish television historical war drama series written and directed by Ole Bornedal. It is based on two books by Tom Buk-Swienty about the Second Schleswig War of 1864 between Denmark and an alliance of Prussia and Austria which ended in defeat for Denmark and the loss of a quarter of its territory to Prussia. It follows two brothers from a remote village on Funen who enlist in the Danish army just before the outbreak of war, and experience the horrors of combat in Schleswig. It also features actual historical figures such as Danish prime minister D. G. Monrad and Prussian prime minister Otto von Bismarck. It was the most expensive Danish TV series to be made to date.

Schleswig in its entirety didn't want to join the German Confederation. Schleswig was a troublesome region to manage because of its diverse population with lots of germans in the south and lots of danes in the north. The people orchestrating the first war were mainly local german nobles and wealthy german leaning merchants alongside other influential german people in the major cities in the region. Looking at the northern part of the region, which is now danish, a majority of the villages where of danish mindset and even resisted the rebels and the reenforcements recieved from Prussia. The idiovy and naïvity of the danish government condemned these danes to 56 years under harsh german rule, which the danish government themselves had enforced upon the germans in Schleswig and Holstein. All in all two avoidable wars all caused by politicians so arrogant and in their own head to clearly see the reality forming at their southern border, and acting with no regard to the well-being of the people these actions would affect the most

Orchestras and bands are ideally told to always pay attention to the director/drum major while performing; Otherwise, the timing of the music will be off. Though, in this case-scenario it demonstrated how such a rule shouldn’t have been followed in a war zone, concerning having musicians on a battlefield… Why it took so long historically for armies to question the idea of having musicians on a battlefield to begin with is beyond me.

This Danish movie is pretty + good honest What people dont realize the Danish Army was actually slightly bigger than Prussia's at the time and on top of this Denmark had a real Navy, which Prussia mostly lacked. At the time Denmark was considered one of the preeminent military powers of Northern Europe. And they (thought) they had England as an ally and so that it would all be a cakewalk. So they recklessly provoked a war with Pussia by breaking the Schleswig treaty ( which stipulated they could not abuse the german population of that province and forced them to not speak german etc) and sent provocative missives to the Prussia King. But the Prussians had made quite a few improvements to the firepower of thier Army and the effectiveness of theirs leadership, so they were quite confident and did not mind a Danish attack at all since they ere eager to use their expensive military to improve their standing in Europe and among the german states. Also, as the Prussians expected, England abandoned the Danes, since they were the ones who broke the treaty and on top of that the Austrians sent generous help to the Prussians. The Danish movie is quite honest about all these things. Ultimately the war was decided by Prussian artillery which was quite superior and so more than made up that Denmark's military was slightly larger. Prussian and Austrian "Special Forces" (for the time) the Deaths head Hussars also contributed out of proportion to their numbers. On top of that the Prussians had the better generalship and staffs and so in the end it was a crushing defeat for the Danes. Denmark would never again be considered a powerful country in Europe.

1. Denmark has not been a powerful country since the late 18th century. 2. The Hussars of Death did not participate in the war of 1864. 3. In the film, the Germans are shown as fools, especially the Prussian soldiers during the storming of the Duppel trenches. During the battle in the forest, the hussars of death are portrayed as complete idiots in the film.

The Danish army wasn't bigger. It just combined their army with the Swedish one and Prussia only backed out because Russia was making threats and Prussia couldn't afford to fight on two fronts. However, Prussia did come back later to annex Schleswig-Holstein with the help of the German Confederation.

Didn't knew that Danish conscripts of the 1860s had such an advanced military standard. Taking an enemy trench by the means of identifying duty neglecting watchguards, covered advance, recon and identify patterns of watchguards and weakpoints, assault leisuring non-threatening soldiers without any hesitation and neutralizing any potential resistance fast and aggressive with skillful and low noise knife drill in cold blood in an effective manner without raising any suspicion. But firing a Line volley into unarmed, unsuspecting, practicing Army Musicians, not even bother to take them prisoner or consider using the musicians noise level to advance even further into the trench system in a covered manner clearly shows the inability of the 1860s Danish Armed Forces to turn conscripts into special forces level worth troops within a limited timespan of just a few months. Quite disappointing. 3 out of 5 Iron Crosses

1) Even modern days, not all Soldiers, Non-commissioned officers and Commissioned officers are trained in Geneva convention to follow the 'rules' even if the country is one of the "Parties to the 1949 Conventions and Protocols I-III". So regardless if there were any 'rules', servicemen may not know about them. 2) You have a Platoon of military musicians nearby but no one do anything about the enemy Section of soldiers attacking your country soldiers? So what should Section do to the enemy Platoon of military musicians since assuming Section cannot kill enemy Platoon but enemy Platoon can kill the Section in war?
