@freebeerfordworkers NVA = Nationale Volksarmee. In English it would be: NPA = National People's Army

Not long after the merger (about a year), the East German army was forced to retire, and the new Germany did not recognize all degree certificates, technical certificates, and competency certificates from East German universities. That is to say, all educated classes in East Germany became slaves overnight who could only sell their physical strength.

The musikkorps is still marching in the old NVA format with NVA drums, drum major mace, and conductor baton. Amazing piece of history at time of great transition.

Als ehemaliger SaZ der Bundeswehr und langjährig Wehrübender, hätte ich die Ausserdienststellung der BW eher begrüsst. Ein Blick auf den (NVA) Tambour Major sagt alles....preussische Tradition vom Feinsten .....

Egal was hier sonst in den Kommentaren steht. Jedenfalls können die gefilmten Jungs vernünftig marschieren. Man beachte das natürlich wirkende durchscheinend der Arme. Guckt euch das hölzern wirkende Gehampel bei aktuellen Aufmärschen der BW an

So hat man es uns zu meiner Zeit auch noch beigebracht. Anscheinend fand in der Zwischenzeit irgendeiner dieses Ellbogen- und Schulterhochziehen zackiger. Isses aber nicht. Sieht nur dämlich aus.

Danke, dass das einer mal sagt. Die Bewegungsabläufe der BW beim marschieren sowie exerzieren wirken sowas von abgehackt und wirken einfach nur unnatürlich und unästhetisch.

Appears to be the same drum major of the old Friedrich Engels regiment from the last several years of the DDR.

Als bekannt wurde, dass die BW gesammtdeutsch übernimmt, war ich froh, dass meine NVA - Zeit - EK 90 herum war. Bei der neuen Hampeltruppe hätte ich nicht gedient.

Ist es nicht so, dass die AK74 von der Bundeswehr als Maschinenpistole eingestuft wurde und deshalb so gemäß ZDV so beim Marsch getragen wird?

@@frakturfreakes ist eher so, daß das AK74 in der NVA als Mpi 74 (Maschinenpistole 74) bezeichnet wurde.

"In 1720, during the reign of Frederick the Great" says the English narrative. Hmm. In 1720, the ruler of Prussia was Frederick William I. His son Frederick, eventually called "the Great", did not inherit the throne for twenty more years. 🙂

Ich wünschte dem Sprecher hätte man vorab mal den Spruch, "Weniger ist manchmal mehr", eingeprägt. Gegen Ende hin ist dann weder er noch die Musik zu verstehen 😂

Germany could've had a 2 army system in which they just split the chain of command in 2 and just maintain both armies. Granted the treaties prevented this, but it would've been interesting to see how it would play out

why have one land but to seperate armys? as a german I state that theres no point in splitting anything between east and west. we are one single country as we were before WWII and not a merged country of DDR and BRD

@@ple_ytesel7299 I said that because of the equipment they had at hand after merging. To me, it would make logical sense to split the command structure to that degree and use both armies. Granted costs would be higher, but you would be surprised by the surplus of equipment the Heer inherited from the NVA

Wenn die Uniformen und Formationen das Gegenteil zum Event sagen. Erinnert in der Tat an die gewitzte unterschwellige Gegenwehr ala‘ DDR. Nur die Kreuzzüge scheinen zu stören? ;)
