I realize this won't get a reply but it's like this. You make anxiety a thing of science and chemistry. And while that may immediately sound like a problem... it's not. Anxiety seems so out of reach. It seems so... hyperphysical. It's amazing from a clinical point of view but being a sufferer of anxiety I can tell you it seems dark and almost demonic. Like another version of myself who chokes me or squeezes my chest don't to scare me. He wants me to be anxious and terrified. BUT understanding this condition... making it tangible? It's such a liberating feeling to listen to your thoughts and approaches. If it's tangible then it's within reach, it has a name and it bleeds. We can beat this and you (believe it or not) help. Thank you so much for your words and your time/efforts. You are a good man. TAKE CARE TO ANYONE WHO SUFFERS FROM THIS! We can win. It will be okay.

I have never in all my life gone to any doctor from cardiologists to general medicine that have never given me (us) such valuable explanations the causes and triggers behind them AND how to correct these issues without all the "pill pushing!" I tell you, I wish I lived in the UK I would love a heart doctor like you.....Im sure you are booked months in advance to have a visit with you. Lucky the people that are your patients. Truly outstanding! Thank you for your priceless advice Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

Thanks for continuing to be a voice of reason and clarity on the issue. It took me a long time of research and reading in the 90s to find the information you're sharing now. The good news is that people can overcome the cycle of fear/adrenaline/fear and lead more normal lives without the constant worry and stress of the sensation of those beats and the fear that comes from feeling that sensation.

It is very reassuring when you said that you would more likely find it abnormal for someone to go 24 hours without an ectopic beat. That's a better way of looking at it.

Hi Dr. Gupta, GREAT job on the videos. I plan on watching ALL of them and sharing them with my family. You have a calm demeanor and the way you explain is very easy to understand, unlike some Doctors who speak so differently than you. Anyway, I wanted to ask you why is the sensation of PVC's, ectopic beats when felt not normal? I feel almost every single one. I was just released from the hospital yesterday and the DR. asked me to tell him when I felt a PVC, well, I did that every time. DR was stumped, most people dont feel them. But, I think I do feel them because I have Ehlers Danlos, Dysautonomia and postural orthostatic tahycardia syndrome. I have always been sensitive to what my body does since childhood. Yes, I have anxiety, but I also have physiological anxiety which manifests itself with increasing the adrenaline into my bloodstream. ugh! My heart rate is usually 78-88 laying down, sitting up 98-100 standing up 110-120, then it goes back down to about 100, but when I am in a flare up, or I am ill, my heart will just RACE, and it will go VERY fast, extra fast when I stand. Pots syndrome SUCKS! There is no cure and I can honestly say that I am a positive person, but I hate these disorders because most the symptoms, it not all are so life changing. Just horrible. Well, Dr. Gupta, I certainly thank you for your videos and would love to see you but too ill right nw, money and your too far. :( Keep up the good work Dr. Gupta! All the best to you and hope to hear back :) Ps- Your puppu is adorable, I have 2 shihtzu's myself, They are so comical and so much company. They remind me of the Ewoks in star wars, that is one reason I had to bring them home, and that they totally rock! Have a great day!

Thank You I’m glad I found you. Having PVCs. Every 6 beats. I’m a retired nurse of years ago. Going for a stress test this month. I have anxiety disorder. All my friends are needing me to do for them I can’t get rest. I used to get Xanax and I had some from the hospital 8 weeks ago. They gave me 10. I have 5 left so I don’t abuse them. I had surgery 8 weeks ago and I was dropped in surgery and got lacerations with 13 staples and could not swallow solids for 34 days and since I could not swallow my pills My b/p elevated and went back into the hospital. There they over medicated me and found me unresponsive. I’m scared to have the stress test now and it is coming up. I have a hx. Of cancer twice and my insurance did not cover my Doctor that took care of me. I finally got that straightened out. I’m enjoying you talks. You are such a good Doctor I can tell. You care.

I was so scared to sleep in my room I would either sleep with the lights on or not sleep at all (not joking). Then my ribs near the chest area started to hurt so I thought I was having heart trouble but turns out the cartilage on the breastplate was inflamed on both sides of the chest to the point where I couldn't poke it because it burned so much. I don't know if this helps any, I am not a medical professional but someone who gets what you're describing. I have been told by a psychologist that our subconscious brain is actually very active while we sleep and it processes at night the things that we think/and worry about the most during our waking hours. She said panic attacks at night are actually more common than one might think. That knowledge helped me, just to know that.. but maybe see your doctor if you need clarification or testing? God bless you

Thankyou, my anxiety and panic attack arrived due to a chest infection making it difficult to breath. I have watched all your videos on palpitations and they have been very helpful. Most of what you had discussed to reduce palpitations, I had applied several months ago. I have lost 25lbs, I walk 2+ miles a day and decreased processed foods. Three years ago, I eliminated red meat - including pork, all artificial sweeteners and reduced my caffeine intake. I also completely abstain alcohol. My sleep patterns are awful and I believe it comes from my battles with stress & anxiety. Four years ago I was prescribed medication for anxiety after the death of my mother. It did help but I was aware that it was a temporary fix and not a solution to my anxiety. The doctor went more in the direction that I had was experiencing post traumatic stress. Now, whenever I face an event that's stressful or traumatic, the palpitations are worse & mostly occur at night. This affects my sleep and the cycle begins. I have not tried magnesium supplements and after researching I am confused to the types that are available. Any advice on more natural ways to relieve anxiety and how to select the best magnesium supplements would be appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to share your suggestions. I will also copy this comment as well as my contact information to your email.

mtnstars the best ways to relieve anxiety naturally are things like yoga, meditation and hypnotherapy... exercise is also an excellent stress buster. i suspect that your pals will get better once your anxiety gets better.in terms of magnesium, i have used magnesium citrate in my patients but even better would be to increase intake of green vegetables

You're being to hypersensitivity brother, its happened to me. I'm in my recovery phase of anxiety. I would always check my pulse or my BP 24/7. The best remedy of anxiety is acceptance of your symptoms and to face mortality. Everyone here in the world carries their morality. Its either quantity of life of quality. If you keep on worrying and just survive day by day you are looking at quantity life which isn't very helpful but if you strive to see the positive things in each day and ay least try to smile and laugh with friends and family you are using your life for quality. Quality will overcome your anxieties. Accept the symptoms once your doc said everything is okay, do some exposure therapy and CBT and you will overcome it day by day!

I want to thank you soooooo much for your input on this subject.I am a34 yr old male.My resting heart rate is about 48bpm and my BP is normal 120/70.I am recently going through hell these past two weeks.Ive had PVC"s before and they usually go away within a day .I am a drinker and I get massive pvcs the day ater I drink.I usually Hydrate myself and walk around the track and they go away.I broke my leg a month ago and had surgery to fix it and I have been on bed rest or a while.I did drink for a couple days due to being down and out.One morning I woke up and had a bunch of pvcs in the shower. Now im having them all day no matter what im doing. Its been going on for two weeks straight and im so nervous.I tried walking around the neighborhood to get the heart pumping and the pvcs come very strong when i walk.I cant seem to do anything with pvcs coming on.Im so close to giving up on life.Im scared I just had my first son and hes gonna need me to be there for him.The worst part is that i lost my job due to leg accident and I also lost my insurance so im screwed. My Pvc's come at any heart rate and they dont induce my heart rate.I was also diagnosed in 2001 with a slight ventricle enlargement.Usually at bed rest I dont seem to get them as much. Please help .

I wish all doctors were like you! All the ones I've gone to only seem to want to throw drugs at me and rush on the the next patient. The last one I went to actually just kept checking his watch 😞

I am on bishop 1.25 for PVCs. Having a flare up at the moment. Is it ok to take magnesium citrate with the betablocker?

Hello Sir, Hope you are good. Thank you for your video it was great insight into my problem. How may I consult you online.I am from Pakistan.I think this is the first logical explanation with what I been suffering. My doc directly put me on paroxitine HCL for 3 months. They in incapacitated me with usual antidepressant side effects.I left the anti depressant about 2 months ago.I have palpitations now and then. What would you recommend me.Thank you again

How many ectopic beats per day would you consider within normal range - 200, 300, up to a thousand? Would it not be taxing on the left ventricular muscle to have this extra expansion often? (I have normal, healthy heart, but am greatly bothered by these beats.)

Ur so fab! really. Look I did boxing nov 18 and after that i have constant it seems octopus. I went to get an ECG and missing beat on a reg basis. I was shocked and have been anxious since yesterday. The box i did i was prob pushing myself too hard, wen... i was trying to learn self defence and get fit. Im 68. hmm In 2017 I was in Feb in cold Berlin, I noticed ectopics, from the cold? I reasoned was it because of the cold. Can you get permanent ectopics from over exertion (perhaps it'll settle down) Or even now am I reacting to winter cold here in UK? Sanjay if you could answer, I know you're busy, I would appreciate it, thank you

Thank so much last night was really scary for me my heart was racing a lot. And every once In a while I would feel a heavy thump in my chest. I watched your videos and I felt better. I had done strenuous exercise I was worried about a cardiac event! I did take some magnesium and I took my metoprolol and I felt better. In the pass I might have ran to an emergency room LOL

Do you recommend any form of magnesium? I read that a 'triple calm' version is best - what do you think? My flutters are quite consistent and full-on, making me feet tight-chested and short of breath. I have no reason whatsoever to be anxious, I work from home for our family business, which my husband runs. I walk my dogs each morning, also do Crossfit, so I'm not out of shape, so no idea why they've started. Pending results of my 7-day Holter. ECG is okay.

Hi Dr Sanjay Gupta! First off I'd like to thank you for your videos, they're very informative, and I thought I'd let you know you're appreciated. I first started experiencing palpitations in 2011, where I went to the hospital and had a potassium reading of 2.6 and was sent home with two tablets, got my potassium checked later and they were borderline low, 3.5.. the doctor thought that reading was normal. I have now seen a cardiologist and done a stress test and I am due for an ultra sound in one week. However, I am continuing experiencing these palpitations quite regularly, even during strenuous exercise. My stress test showed no irregularities, I had to bike for 12 minutes, should I wear a holter or event monitor to be sure that my palpitations are benign, or should I rest assured that these are benign if my cardiologist says so after a stress test and ultrasound?

prockzz if your potassium has been low then it is possible that your magnesium will also be low and this could be why you get the palps. Worth having a holter (just to be absolutely reassured that they don't represent an abnormal heart rhythm)and asking your doctor about your magnesium levels and whether it is worth taking some supplementation
@jasonk8775 Жыл бұрын
@@YorkCardiology how do you prevent your potassium and magnesium from getting low other than supplementation. I mean can you use up these minerals faster when stressed? I notice my heartbeat when I lie down. It isnt fast just louder than normal, and breathing deeply doesnt calm me down or help me sleep. I do keto and taking magnesium citrate doesnt seem to do anything. I also have potasium citrate which tastes aweful. also what about sodium?

Hi Doc! You mentioned something related to magnesium and potassium and I’m sure I’m not spelling it right because it’s not populating anything. Can you please tell me what it was? Sounded like “serimyan” 💗 also I don’t know if it’s just me but your video froze about halfway thru and produces no sound or video when skipping ahead but when going back, it’s normal.

I cannot go on…. According to my EP im not quite getting “enough” for any invasive treatment. No need to tell you meds do not work. I am absolutely done with my life as it is now, theres nothing to live for but the utter, devastating, crippling demonic beats. I hope all of you get yours sorted. Sadly my EP doesnt give a flying fairy that im almost mentally insane with these dam things and im suicidal with them. If im dead I dont have to feel another ectopic, flutter, SVT, PAC, PVC or anything else my heart chucks at me. All i wanted was an ablation and my life back… so now I die so unhappy and miserable. I cannot live with this any longer. Bless you all. 😢😢😢

Hey I just wanted to say Please remain strong. Do not let anxiety win, just remember ectopic heart beats are normal and there is nothing wrong with you. Same goes for every other abnormal heart palpitation/beat I was in the same position as you before I went to the hospital I was ready to give up when I had all check ups I came back home and made a change. break out that cage brother don’t get suffocated to the point you feel like you have nothing to live for I promise you will not have a heart attack you will not have any complications associated with your heart they may feel dreadful I know I get it but don’t get caught in that cycle. take yourself out that start getting out your comfort zone try different and new things you may have a hobby focus on that instead of focusing on the abnormal completely normal heart palpitations.
