I tried to comment on the video about stents . In 2007 I had a heart attack and went to a local hospital. The cardiologist (a wonderful man) inserted two stents. In 2015 I had another angiogram and the doctor noted that one stent had blocked but my heart had made its own bypass with a corollary artery. I try to exercise moderately and eat healthy foods. So far so good in my last exam a month ago showed my blood pressure normal and my heart seems to be fine or at least is fine as an 82-year-old heart can be. Your videos are so interesting and so informative you are a very good facilitator of good information thank you so much I enjoyed your video and I enjoy subscribing to your video.

Thank you for taking the time to share an excellent summary (apparently with no ulterior motive, solely to help those in need). Kudos Doctor!. I live in a part of the world that lacks the level of healthcare common in western countries. Given that I have chest pain, and after being dismissed from the ER with a 'prescription' for acetaminophen (after a blood test and ECG), I am going tomorrow to see a cardiologist... armed with this information I feel much better about having an informed discussion with the doc. thanks again, I've learned a lot from your presentations!

Ask your doctor for a zio patch. Is a better type of holter monitor. It has no wires and very comfortable, can be used as long as you want, i had it done for 7 days. Google it. Cheers

Hi my son is 14 years 24 hours holter done they diagnos my son sick sinus syndrome and recommended pacemaker, they said during daytime my son heart rate normal when sleeping is slow, echocardiogram is normal, what is your opinion with 24 hours holter monitor? Is it accurate to diagnose only for 24 hours? Thank you please im so stress right now 😭🙏
@nerowolf66232 жыл бұрын
@@rosalinebautista6071 Hi I am sorry about your son, ask your doctor for 72 hours holter monitor to confirm diagnosis, holter monitor is better than zio patch in certain circumstances because it has more leads(wires) which gives more details of the heart rhythm. If your son has no symptoms doctors wait and monitor situation but if he has symptoms then pacemaker is the recommended treatment however sometimes ablation is also tried but its more risky. Ultimately your doctor is the best person but ask for 72 hours holter to confirm diagnosis. Ask your son to have healthy diet and healthy lifestyle it may help his condition. I hope he gets better.

Thank you for the very informative information on the different tests. Just recently I was in the hospital with Atrial fib. with R.V.R..In the summer of 2021,I was in the hospital 4 times,& admitted 3 of the times with a.fib with R.V.R. During the summer meds were charged around,& I was placed on a blood thinner.This time,my meds were again changed a bit.I have frequent nose bleeds, but it's not too bad. They say there are many "triggers" for a.fib. All I know for sure is that it isn't much fun going through the episodes, & breaking out in a sweat,or having your hands go numb or getting nauseated, or start to feel weak or having chest pressure,or jaw pain or feeling short of breath. But, I guess it could be worse. At any rate ,👍 great video.

I have learned so much from the videos I have watched, thank you so much for this information. I am a healthy 65 year old, not on any medications and started having daily palpitations last year after receiving the Covid booster. My primary care doctor had me do the 24 hour heart rate monitor test after the EKG showed one value pumping faster. She concluded it is benign but I am going to a cardiologist to learn more. I eat healthy and exercise five days a week, mostly walking and strength training. There is no heart disease in our family and my parents were on no prescription medications up until there death at the ages of 90 and 95. I have four siblings who take no medications either. So I am trying to figure out why all of a sudden I am having daily palpitations. Thank you again for your insight as to how the heart works and the different conditions.

But after looking at my 2 week monitor & the stress test did also induce a small spike my doctor said it is lower chamber not psvt. He said all looks good on echos. So next I am give the two options you mentioned. Angiogram or CT Angiogram. I have opted for the CT as it is non invasive. I am hoping it shows fine 😉

Ok, for reference history. I was born with coarctation of the Aorta and left vsd. A muscle that was wrapped around the Aorta was cut as a kiddo, but the valve has always been constricted. Hole is still hanging out with left sided hypertrophic changes (is that the word) 🤷♀️ She a little thick. Basically, I have never known what a normal heart feels like nor what a non abnormal 12 lead looks like. 😂 But, clearly I am fight-sty and here today. 😆 Thanks to my heart doctors. When you said that the 24 hour halter was irrelevant I was laughing. For folks that have cardiac chronic illness in anyway, they know that to totally generally be the case. It would help the nurses/doctors keep an eye on your heart when inpatient. But to wear it around for a day when having some inconsistent symptoms at home or work, when you are safe enough to be home … it would be a little like looking for a needle in a hay shed for the doctor I would imagine? 😊

Another test is the TEE, trans-esophageal echocardiogram, in which the patient swallows a small probe which allows the echo to be done from the inside, getting more clear pictures of some structures, especially when the patent has bad "windows" for an area of interest. It's sometimes done at the same time as a heart catheterization. There was no mention of valvular issues; which are another problem many of these tests can detect. The heart muscle may be strong, but if a valve is stiff or leaky the blood will still have a hard time moving. Another aspect of catheterization is the ability to measure pressures in various chambers, which is particularly useful when detecting issues due to restrictive or constrictive heart disease.
