Here in Oregon, USA, the weather is the same... cold rain. Kind of messy and miserable but better than ice and snow. Love your garden and greenhouse.

I spent a few hours on Saturday tidying up the garden and making sure everything was fleeced in the greenhouse. I have some cuttings to pot up. I hope we have a mild winter this year. Thank you for your update, I find it very useful. 👍

P. Sunkha should be doable in your neck of the woods Chris. It may need some help i expect. I have one in 8a too, took a weeks worth of beating @ -7 last winter. I wrapped with split bamboomat and cover top for rain/snow. P. Sunkha and TVT both get extra heating at around -4/-5.

My Echiums are the same Kris. Good thing is they self seed like crazy so there will be loads of seedlings for a couple years. I fleece mine because of last year I didn’t want to lose more especially as they are looking nice and big this year

Hi I realise I'm going to sound like an idiot but ..... Why take cuttings in the winter when we have to give extra light and heat and the greenhouse is full , rather than in the summer when heat and light and space are abundant ?

It's the most efficient way to get some tender plants through winter as small cuttings/ plants that don't take up much room and therfore less to heat than keeping bigger plants that we grow through summer

Good suggestion but this is much slower growing, finer leaves and smaller.

@@YorkshireKRISBrahea calcarea (previously nitida) has dark greyish green, finely segmented leaves with white undersides. It is easy to distinguish from other Brahea as the only species without a thorny petiole. Great video as always. Good luck Kris, from the Netherlands I wish you and your family all the best. Cheers.
