Ive never done a wild camp, i prefer campsites; its all about personal choice. Love your vlogs fella.

We mainly use campsites and meets / rally’s etc for some of the reasons you stated and so you are permissive parking and much less likely to get moved on. Can’t whack a nice walk. I must get my fire pit up and running! 🔥 All the best, David & Rachel 👍

Nice and peaceful video Colin. Woodland walk is right up our street. Guessed the beer correct, I thank you. Defo pay for a campsite, need to have a shower and loo block, the good lady insists plus I do like to chat to other fellow campers. Each to their own though, wild camping not for us. NICE

Hi Colin, for me it’s about a 70/30 split campsite vs wild camp. Stonehenge was the first wild camp and it was amazing to wake up and see the views. Mike

I’ve been going out in my van for 3 years now and never stayed on a campsite. I’m disabled/retired and go out a lot, probably 50/50 home and travelling the U.K. The whole point for me getting a camper was to be able to travel and not have the cost of staying somewhere, I just don’t have the money to do it anyway as it’s hard enough paying for van, fuel, insurance etc. I’ve never been moved on and never had any problems but I do keep myself to myself. Like your vids and I also watch Heaton and have a few of his signed photos hanging on my wall. I am the winner of fototripper 💩 box Sony a7rii 😍 which doesn’t work properly but I love it

Love the campsite - especially with no one else there - lovely countryside views. We always go on CLs/CS sites - especially since we now tow a caravan behind our camper -prefer to feel more secure and be able to have a drink. Thanks for sharing again- have a lovely weekend.

I can say I wild camp & stay on camp campsites, when I wild camp I arrive late, leave early & leave no evidence I’ve ever been there! Also I agree & also don’t drink alcohol! What I tend to do is sandwich my trips, first night wild, few nights on site then last night wild before heading home! Having a shower, toilet & a few beers is always NICE.

I prefer campsites but go to anything from just a water tap to the more expensive. I like the versatility of the van that we can do all different types of holiday but always have our accommodation. I like a fire pit but I’m happy without one too. Have no idea what a raptor on the front of your van would be so go for it if you want to. Take care Gill

Small vans rule and with the fixed beds and shower rooms in larger vans you often have less living space. The parking and manoeuvrability are so much easier. They also get much better mpg.

Hi Colin. I've often had the thought. Bet Colin will be coming up soon with a bigger van & converting it. Wouldn't have thought it would cost much. Perhaps nothing. Sell your van & that should be enough to purchase a van & convert it yoyrself Ive got a Renault trafic 2019 lwb premier edition van. Which is ideal for me (widower) But when you go on holiday. Especially with your daughter. Must be very claustrophobia Having said that. A lwb makes big difference Extra 400mm cupboard 400mm top 400mm living space And it's no more difficult to park. Mine is my car & never once had any difficulty parking

I am a serial wildcamper - with a tent. Nothing beats (IMO) being on top of a mountain just under canvas (not really canvas, that would be too heavy!). Anyway, each to their own. Off grid in a van is exciting too. P.S. Keep looking out for you in Otley. I'll give you a wave in my T6.

I much prefer wild camping than at most campsites (although some very cheap farm campsites are ok and deserted during winter months). I never shit in a bucket! 😂 Disgusting and as bad as idiots putting dog crap in plastic bags. I always simply dig a hole and cover with soil afterwards. Leave no trace.

Raptor painting your bumper would look awesome fella, do it! And a video as well! I am trying to convince the wife to do our Trafic, which we have blacked out. I’ve even suggested we have a decal Metallica Black Album styled ‘M’ on the back end… she doesn’t think that is as cool as I do. The scary bit I have is that I have just enough to do ‘stuff’ to the can but not enough to pay a pro to re-do it in case I mess it up!

You need to come to old Hartley camping site ( near Whitley bay ) just been done out and is £46 with electric but you can watch dolphins from your van …. I live locally and they are jumping at the moment plus there’s a path that takes you along the coast past Whitley bay to tynemouth or go the other way to Blyth … loads of photo opportunities…. Nice

Thing is for me... Wild camping might be great for the camper, perhaps looking out at a great view, but you end up with many beautiful spots full of camper vans which spoils the place for everyone else! So I think it's definitely more responsible and considerate for camper vans to use camping sites whenever they can. Plus, like you, I like to crack a beer or bottle of wine and properly relax, which is more difficult (and potentially illegal) if you're wild camping and still on a public highway!

With your campfire, do you use logs or do you just burn Kinderling?
@Yorkshirepoptopadventures3 ай бұрын
@simonmumford5044 hey, I use Kiln dried wood chopped up in to about 3inch logs so it burns well without too much smoke. The kindling just gets it going and gives a good base, the longer it burns, the larger the blocks of wood I can put on. Hope that helps

If you wild camp and are asked by police to be breathalysed you can be done for drink driving even if the van isn’t running etc as you are classed as being in charge of a motorcar , on a site it’s private land and can’t! My mate was in a pub .. had more than he intended so went back to put his soft top up as the weather turned and he would need to leave the car and get a taxi .. and he got done for drink driving ! Also someone I know slept in his car on his drive as lost his door key on a night out, concern neighbours called the police seeing a body in the car .. they came to check and again got done for drink driving as he had his keys on him! Therfore in charge of the vehicle! Neither of them actually drove but treated and charged exactly the same ! So I’m for sites only

Always use campsite, wild camping is not legal in much of UK and even in Scotland the wild camping is actually for tents only. Wild camping in tents I fully support and have done frequently when younger. However once you are in a vehicle campsites are the only way. Just think if you would like people pulling up in front of your house and staying the night.
