those songs have a story, and if you going to react the *Nautilus* you should react it in the last. the story is about a girl(elma) and the boy(amy) . if you buy the album there's a letter of amy, that letter is about of his journey and his sending it to elma and there's a diary of elma to. idk what album it's it.. the ending of the story(Nautilus) will really make you cry i promise that sorry for bat English hehe T-T

I believe the most common pronunciation for the producer is 'na-buna', and they used to be a vocaloid producer. Yorushika has a pretty incredible series of songs detailing an older songwriter passing down their love of music to an up and comer too, with some real heartbreak mixed in. Their songs drum up lots of emotion

n-buna was a well-known VocaloidP before Yorushika. He and Orangestar were famous for writing the "summer song", but they catch different emotions in the summer. Then, n-buna wanted to convey things that Vocaloid singers cannot describe. That's why he formed Yorushika. You might find the similar spirit from his Vocaloid songs in band. In an interview he said "I like to have things in the story that don't change (such as bus stop signs), so I make sure they are there, and that way there is a core of what appears to be a complete song at first glance. I like the idea of "something that looks like it's completely changed, but there's still something unchanged"." For example, the first three song are from their 1st, 2nd EP and 1st album. You can find the sentence "How high the clouds are. " in 'Say it' and the text from 'Just a Sunny Day for You'. "Only sleep at night." are also in the text, and in the lyrics of "The Clouds and the Ghost". Then, "The Clouds and the Ghost" is answering questions from 'Say it'. If you put two songs together you will find it easily. Two songs are the exhibition of the core concept "Reincarnation" "Reincarnation" has connected their first fourth CD, telling a big story. In the MV of 'Nautilus', the last song of 2nd album, you will see the same ocean in 'That's Why I Gave Up On Music', the last song in 1st album. Two album are highly related. 'Ghost In A Flower ' is from 3rd album, and you will find a small piece of melody from this song in 'Spring Thief'. They aren't connecting that much with first fourth CD, but still asking a deep question "What's the true value of music/creation?" They even released a EP which has 'no CD inside version' . Finally, their new "artwork" coming in April will be a music&art book, no CD.

The title for 4th album is "Projection (Gentou)". Will split into two chapter. Chapter 1 - Summer Potrait and Chapter 2 - Dancing Animals. The songs for chapter 1 already release, such as, "The Old Man and the Sea", "Matasaburo", "Howl at the Moon", "Bremen", "Left-Right Confusion", "The Fruits of the Earth". "Telepath" and "Algernon" will be commercial, so they didn't release in official KZbin account.

So fun fact about ヨルシカ, not matter how hype the song could be, every one of them is just fking sad after you understand and study the lyrics and story behind the songs. I mean Suis, the singer, literally cry after she first received the lyrics of 言って and 雲と幽霊 as those 2 songs can be seen as one storyline, which the storyline possibly extended from 言って to ノーチラス according to different understanding to the story. Or even like ブレーメン which has just been recently released. Big fan of it

Yeah I'm not one who usually pays attention to lyrics too much on the first listen because the beat and whether I'm hooked by it is more my focus. But with Yorushika the lyrics stick out so much they're pretty hard not to pay attention to and I love that tbh

There are at least two full disc that are totally the same story. I'm not sure if song like itte and hitchcock are canon to the story of Elma and Amy, and in that story I particularly love the conection of the lyrics from Deep Indigo to That's why I gave up on Music to A hole opened up in my Heart as it gives such layers to the line "it's your fault"

I'm Japanese and I use Google Translate. I love yorushika. Their songs have a beautiful view of the world and powerful lyrics appeal to my heart. My favorite song is 'Hole In The Heart'. The lyrics of this song seem to desperately call out to heart. And I think it's a song that really shows suis' power of expression. The guitar at the end is also very nice. The title of this song is "言って(Say it)" has different meaning. This song is about her boyfriend who has past away already. "Say it" means that she is asking him to say some words usually. She still can't believe he has past away. In the lyrics, I will sing a love song for you in the last day of life if I can see you. I will sing "I have not lost all of my love for you". "I think I still can't believe you are not here in the last day of my life" The title of this song means "I want to hear your voice".

One of my favorite Yorushika songs is Hitchcock. I first heard it when I was a high schooler and I felt so much pressure to figure out what I want to do with my future. Now as a college student that just decided that the career path I chose was not for me, it hits hard again. And also the fact that naturally I’m a really laid back person that just wants to enjoy life.

One thing I love about Yorushika is that even though they say their names, they have the principle that they don't want to show their faces to the public because they don't want people to feel biased about their music just because of their appearance, and even tho they sound extremely good and they're extremely popular by now, they have only played live a handful of times, so they're 2 people doing music out of the passion of just doing good music, you can actually see 2 of their concerts on their KZbin channel, but the project is more of a concept than a band

Yorushika is a two person group if i remember it right,the vocalist (Suis) and the producer (N-Buna). N buna is also a Vocaloid producer. If You want artist that have same vibe as Yorushika, You can check out Keina Suda. He also a vocaloid producer like eve and kenshi yonezu. His music video is also really pretty and I think you would enjoy suda Vocal. Some of his song: Lead,Veil(my fav),Kumowokou,Rakkaryusui and ANSWER(a collab song with a band called Frederic)

As long as I can remember I've always a fan of both literature and digital art. That's probably why I always so drawn into japanese artists. And that Yorushika, Yoasobi and all of the post-vocaloid artists really hit all the checkmark for me. They're poetic, have a story and also a visual treat. Even tho honestly, I'm not really into heavy electronic sounds that usually these musicians have, I'm more into bands and alternative sounds. But even with just their lyrics I will always so eager to watch them. I appreciate them so much, thank you for the reactions

To my understanding, the producer n-buna is the person behind Yorushika. He writes and produces all of the music and lyrics, and he writes the stories behind their songs. 2 of theyre albums, that’s why I gave up on music and Elma tell a collective story through their lyrics, music videos and a short journal that n-Buna released. When listening to "Just a Sunny Day for You" you mentioned the aspect ratio, you will have to listen to "thoughtcrime" and then you will find the weirdest aspect ratio ever. Btw just found your channel and I really appreciate how you vibe with these songs. Yorushika is by far my favourite group/band/duo/singer in all of music. I suggest you, check out a lot of it as they have a very distinct sound and even then they can sound amazingly different from song to song. "Eat the wind" for example is an amazing song that really sounds like nothing else.

I used a translation app.Please understand even if it's a strange sentence.Say it expresses the feeling of "I wish you had said something to me before you disappeared" to the person who committed suicide.(It's just my guess.However, I think it's natural to interpret the lyrics like this.) You spoke japanese completely throw me off because this is my first time. I actually really love it when people actually enjoy the mv as well as the song itself I actually very appreciated it. I think in term of lyrical and mv jpop is really an undiscovered land. I highly recommended tuyu, maybe to start with Compared Child, I'm getting on the bus to the other world, What if this isn't a slave?, Even tears withered. They did A LOT of good songs but in term of lyrics these are the best best for me. You should also check out some comments under the song where people show their intepretation of the song. And mostly enjoy it as much as u want

Also, That's Why I Gave Up on Music alongside Elma are albums that tells the story of Elma (the girl) and Amy, (the boy) and I believe That's Why I Gave Up on Music tells the story from Amy's point of view. You can read the translated versions of letters to Elma and Elma's diary that tells the whole story for these two albums on the Yorushika Reddit.

Try reading the story behind the lyrics, a little bit dark and sad but will definitely shake your core. Especially for say it, and that's why i gave up on music which has a prequel rain with cappuccino. Yorushika is known to make a sad story on their original album songs but with an upbeat music.

i dont see anyone talking about it, so ill just add this here. "that's why i gave up on music" is part of a series of music videos/songs (i believe from the album Elma, i might be wrong) that all tell the same story or parts of the same story in slightly different ways. The story itself being that of a failed musician that commits suicide after giving up his dream, but not before inspiring a girl with his love for music (most of the story told from the point of view from the musician, the boy in the MVs). In the music video for the song Nautilus, we see the girl following the steps of the boy through places he describes in his songs and a couple photos of said places; in the end she finds his guitar and his charts at the end of a pier, the charts themselves being of all the other songs from the album.

This song is from the Album "That's Why I Gave Up On Music" giving the story on why Amy decided to end his life and also give it meaning through the reasons why he gave up on music. From my understanding, it was Elma, not Amy(the guy in that's why I quit music), who inspired Amy to pursue a life through music. That's why he goes "It's all your fault," in the song. He also further states that "Elma, you are my music," deciding to abandon(?) something in pursuit of music. [I believe so because before he says that about Elma he says "Life is a line of compromises" in Deep Indigo] Elma meant alot to him. In "August, Someone, Moonlight," he wrote "On a certain night in August, I rode my bike into the moonlight," implying that the moonlight guided his way through the town that night when he felt lost. He later writes "Your life is my moonlight; I won't let you say that it was nothing special." He then goes through hardship such as learning that the price of happiness and achieving your dreams is very high(Song Writing and Coffee), that writing becomes harder and meaningless while all he could ever think of is Elma(In June I Write About a Town After Rain), and that there are things he just doesn't want to remember and that pain is proof that he has met Elma(May and the Emerald Green from the Window). He then fantasizes about a place where he, unable to write a single thing, can just look up at the sky (Parade, Elma). Then it finally brings him to the pier where he writes leaves his final song/letter, Nautilus. There, he ponders about his life so far and comes to a short conclusion that he might have been wrong in his view on life and that he truly should not have cared about what people thought---that he had a dream once and that now it's worth absolutely nothing(That's Why I Gave Up on Music). By the time he realizes all of this, he's at the bottom of the lake looking up at the water's surface hoping to catch moonlight. This leads us to the next album "Elma" which begins with "Only Sorrow" as Elma writes about her grief and slight bitterness writing about how his life, like water lilies, has been pressed transparent under the weight of water. Elma continues further in her angst, regretting that she had not known(?) and writing that "Singing songs isn't enough, I want to hear about those days where the dusk's red is shone on you. I want to know what you mean by a 'beautiful night.' Lost in a flurry of flowers(fireworks), I wait for summer with this moonlight attatched to me." (Evening Calm, Someone, Fireworks). She reminisces about how the first met and that she wrote a song so that she would never forget Amy's vividness(Rain and Cappuccino). She believes that it would be too cruel if she forgot about him, but also acknowledges that she would never be happy as long as she remembers(Dance of Gods). To combat her grief of not knowing the truth, she walked the path Amy walked and followed his journey throughout the nation following his letters to understand him and his pain more(Walking). Even then, she comes to finally admit that she should stop lying and feiging ignorance. She had known. In her quest to understand his pain, she had made it so that every single sentence she wrote would be as if Amy wrote it. She made her entire being that of Amy to understand what the hell he went through. I'm not so sure what the following songs (Voice, Amy), but I know that once she ends the album with Amy's final song: Nautilus. The song she found on the pier. I don't really know the story between Amy and Elma outside the songs in these albums. I know that there are letters, but I don't know what's in them. If I'm wrong, do correct me I'm also trying my best to understand what these albums are about hahaha

There is a novel (diary style like) on the album - Thats Why I Gave Up On music. I highly recommend it. You guys will know about the story of our two protagonist (Elma and Amy) and there is also a novel on the album - Elma. im really sorry for my English, its horrendous lmao.

Regarding That's Why i Gave up on Music, all of the album, which has the same name, are songs and letters dedicated to Elma from Amy, who got an existencial crisis at some point of his life and escaped from Japan to Sweden. With the special edition of the album, there's also Elma's diary that portrays how she sees Amy, which in for example 神様のダンス (Kami-sama no Dance) is shown that he is the closest to God for her

The most amazing part of their songs is their lyrics so I hope you can find proper English translations and you’ll definitely find something deeper and more touching ❤ and I highly recommend you to listen to their 3rd and 4th album ‘that’s why I gave up music’ and ‘Elma’ in the order of how the producer n-buna arranged, you can then understand the whole story of the two characters appeared in the MV, which is so sorrowful and powerful😢

i highly suggest you react to lamp songs. they're a jazz pop japanese band from the 2000's and has been putting out (imo) the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. songs from their album "for lovers" in particular. songs like: behind the moon shadow, last train at 25 oclock, and hirogaru-namida but great reactions as always!
