I am a So Cal Kid and grew up in Ventura and the SF Valley. My dad was a teacher, and his summer job was as a ranger naturalist in Yosemite. We were there every summer from 1953 to 1961. When I was seven, my dad thought that it was time I learned to swim, so, he walked me down to sentinel bridge 1:12 from camp 13, said to me "Swim to the bank" and threw me into the middle of the river. the Merced is pretty cold as its just snowmelt from the high country so - I Swam. Couldn't have been a better life than being a kId in Yosemite valley all summer😃😃

You didn't mention that we, the Southern Sierra Miwok, are STILL not Federally Recognized and have NO land.

I was born in Oregon in 1957 and visited all the parks in Oregon, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon and have toured America including the Badlands, Rushmore, Niagara. Now Disneyland is $100, Hearst Castle is $25 or $100 for the whole property and to drive up into Yosemite is $40 but they do allow you to come back for a week. To be fair every state park in California has a $10 entrance fee just to go look at it. Seems like a money maker for the government comparable to what Disney charges. Just so people know, the federal government owns and controls 50% of 11 Western States. The feds control 53% of Oregon. The feds must think that we are too greedy, stupid or just incompetent for us westerners to take care of our own states. Why don't they change the maps so the people know who controls what. Everything east of the Mississippi is owned by the citizens of the state and the west side is their playground. Our lands burn up in the summer and where are the homeless? On the west coast.

4:56 - little tip...don’t wait until halfway through an interview to introduce the audience to the person you’re interviewing...

They did not touch Hetch Hetchy which is another story itself.
