15:16 - Vana'diel is NOT linked to the Source... the devs/YoshiP have said this because everyone started doing stupid theorycrafting that Vana'diel was a reflection, which it isn't. It's still its own separate universe. This is going to be just like one the Ivalice raids where we'll get A Vana'diel but not THE Vana'diel, like moments that remind you of the *other* FF game without it literally being that game.

Another weird thing with spell name numbers is WHM. We went from Glare and Holy to Glare 3 and Holy 3, skipping 2 entirely.

That’s due to the spells becoming Holyga and Glarega in Japanese. Still a miss on the English localization

The amount of time that's passed won't matter because 10.0 will reveal this has all been a dream.

Regarding Time: It is highly likely it truly is 1-1.5 years since ARR. However, there are several conflicting time crunches which should make it much longer (4-7 years if you add everything together: and not counting the extra time for scions in 1st). Ship travel to Doma and Sharlyan, which takes several months (just travel in Stormblood should have been a year). Likely travel to Tural is same amount of time, several NPCs saying they haven't seen you since X, etc. Also the "new" timeline with Tural "discovery" and the like. BUT, we have "service" timelines such as Cirina and the Mol still leading the Au Ra steppe tribes, which is a year service (unless there has been selections we haven't heard about). Then there is some mentions of some characters X time as being nearly a year as adventure who we've met early on.

My head canon, which means nothing: is that each expac is roughly a year. I mostly use it in RP

ships are magic. its the only explanation. and tbh I'm surprised they haven't thrown in some comment about ships being magically speedy or using water-based magics or something to explain it only taking a few days or weeks where they should have taken months or years.

@@fourcatsandagarden That would fly, if they didn't in game tell you the journey takes months. Which is why we have the situation we have. Where the game is telling you something takes X time, but other things say X time has passed.

folks who get salty about the lack of -aga/-ja names forget that for a HUGE section of the playerbase this is their ONLY Final Fantasy game. coupled with the existing issues with people not being willing to read their tooltips as-is i think making the spell names incomprehensible at a glance would hurt more than it helps since it's just flavor.

Why no spell names question: Canonically and in other translations, they do. Only in English translation they don’t and have a book explaining the localisation in other translations , which means the localisation isn’t canonical. Fira firaga and so on are canonically used.

Yes, canonically in shadowbringers there was removed dialogue from f’lahminn in regards to her husband, which shifted Arr back by 10 years canonically, however - it was removed so it’s no longer canon

@@ghostcassette6012 Oh fuck right off with that. While the MSQ sucked it had never anything to do with that and people likely still finished/skipped through it to get back on the weekly grind of EX/Raids and endgame farms like Hunts and Fates.
