It's worth it, you can usually get the entire collection on sale for like $5-10. The systems are extremely dated and you WILL need guides, but the world and characters are so worth it.

Stories* You should know going into it that FFXI's expansions are largely self-contained stories that are only loosely related to each other at best, unlike FFXIV. Only Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia are directly connected. But each expansion's story is IMO very good!

I went back to 11 after 10 years (free login campaign) and it’s hard. You suddenly remember that there are no keybinds and you can’t just press M to bring up the map. There has been no update to the UI. But I did have a blast going down memory lane, seeing all the old zones I spent ages grinding in😢. I’m torn on the game, I miss it and I don’t miss it.

If they're really going to pull on people's nostalgia for FF11 I can't see them not using the Shadowlord for at least one of the raids if not have him as the antagonist for the whole thing. Would love it if one of them was just all Dynamis themed and we got to wander through all the cities of Vana'diel again.

Words cannot describe how happy i am to have an XI-themed expansion. Like holy shit, finally come full circle. My guess is they're going to lean into WotG because the Walk of Echoes is canonically an interdimensional gateway, so they have all the set up they need. I'm also full expecting to see Balamor. He's the most sensical villain to go with, not to mention they already mentioned Tartarus in 14 - oh wow wouldn't that be crazy if there was a link through Ra'kaznar OwO; I mean, if they wanted to keep it simple then yeah Shadow Lord & Zilart, probably introduce Lion to greet us and maybe Prishe. I'm just glad that millions of 14 players are finally gonna get exposed to my all-time favorite game.❤❤❤

Not only am I stoked to see the FFXI content rolling into FFXIV, but the fact that the community is seemingly so happy about it is kinda shocking. For a long time It looked like a lot of people hated it. Glad thats not the case because though the game is vastly different it really is great in its own respects.

I'm assuming much of the XIV community is held back by the fact that FFXI is still a monthly sub. Some of my oldest friends still play XI and their monthly sub is more than their monthly XIV sub. If they restarted the combo sub, I feel like A LOT of new players would at least TRY XI. XI vets in XIV truly do speak fondly of the game, and tend to gloss over its shortcomings. Most of which were during the 75 cap era. A great troll by YoshiP would be to have a 3 RL day cooldown between each time you run the alliance raid, or having a gear token (not the tomestone upgrade token) that required you to wait until JP midnight to acquire the final piece.

@@nyrahl593 As an FFXIV player who wants to try out FFXI, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. If FFXIV subs also counted as FFXI subs, or if there was a way of subbing to both at once, I'd probably be nearing the Shadowlord at this point. Instead, I have to go out of my way to get a separate sub to a game that is very hard to get into. I can get into some clunky old games that were before my time, but the barriers in front of even being _able_ to play FFXI put me off. Issues like the keyboard and mouse control scheme being incomprehensible were less of an issue than the combination of Play Online and a separate sub.

I didn't say this on a prior video for some reason, so I might as well say it here; I don't think the problem with Dark Apocalypse was that it was a full-on crossover raid, I think the problem was that you pretty much *needed* outside information to get pretty much anything out of the story. Dark Apocalypse pretty much locks the WoL out of the loop on what's happening, and even having played Nier: Automata doesn't help much, because it throws Drakengard lore at you, too. The FFXI raid crossover could be a full-on crossover and still good if it gives you all the necessary context to understand what's happening (Dark Apocalypse hides such important details as _why the events of the story are a big deal_ behind knowledge of outside media that even Nier fans won't necessarily have), and if knowledge of FFXI lore will let you pick up on subtle nods to that game, rather than being required to understand major plot points.

Since RotZ & CoP are both interconnected through a post-completion questline, I feel as though a true joining of the two stories would be the best way to go. Raid 1: Move through the Glacier, into the Castle, and decend into the Keep to take down the Shadow Lord. Raid 2: Wander the Sanctuary, ascend Ro'maeve to reach the Hall of the Gods, journey to the Ru'Aun Gardens/Shrine of Ru'Avitau and defeat the Zilart brothers. Raid 3: Travel through the Promyvion to reach Al'Taieu, where you find the Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi, and within it, The Garden of Ru'Hmet, where you'll take down Promathia. This would hit all of the most memorable areas from each section while also doing a greatest hits of the bosses associated therein. Aht Urhgan had a few memorable areas, but the Undersea Ruins have already been brought to XIV, and the majority of its story/lore are tied into Odin/Alexander. Wings of the Goddess would only truly have the Walk of Echoes to separate it from the original areas. Dawntrail is already XIV's Adoulin, traveling to a country with intent to explore and colonize. Those are just my thoughts.

Blitzball will be the final Boss with Wakka and you will have to hit the ball into the net, as a boss mechanic to stay alive. You have to fight off adds when ever wakka throws his leg 🦵 up for a kick. When you pass he misses the ball. If you fail he does a Tidus special and 1 shots you. After you beat the boss you unlock the mini game in thr gold saucer.

I’m excited for the alliance raid only for the future prospect that we hopefully never get 11 themed content again as there is already too much as it is. Hopefully we can stop getting 12 themed content too and actually give attention to the number games that have shit all for representation instead of the same 3 or 4 games over and over. The post patches for EW were fantastic because they focused on a game that wasn’t 3, 11 or 12. Also why I liked ShB so much.

As someone who is spoiler free for ff16 (since I'm waiting for PC release) What I read there kinda scares me "So it generally won't touch on the second half of 16" I guess I will have to ask someone that played ff16 and how spoiler heavy it is before it start and might have to skip the story of it.

I'm sure if you have seen any trailer's for the game or even the slightest bit of game reviews you won't be learning anything new about the plot unless you are really bad at putting things together you can kinda already know the first part of the game's generalized plot

It's hard to even talk about the second part of FFXVI's story without spoilers, so them sticking to the first half means it's _more_ accessible to people who don't want spoilers. Technically there _is_ one thing that looks like it could get spoiled, but the game put no effort into hiding it (even the crossover event teaser is pretty unsubtle in hinting at it), and I think you'd lose out more by missing the event than you would gain by experiencing that single plot point organically.

I really hope they dont do duty support for trials and non msq dungeons. At the end of the day, the npc ai limits what types of mechanics they can do with those fights, and i want trials to be more interesting

Good to hear they're bringing more MMO aspects back to the game. The solo-aim killed FFXI's community, and hope they would of learned by now not to do that in a MMORPG. Why make a MMORPG solo focused with the issues & mechanics that are native to the MMO experience when you can get better quality in all aspects from a Single-player Game rn. It makes zero sense to do that, and you're only harming yourself in the long run trying to pull that off. Story is great to have in XIV, we should keep that. But please SE/CBU3, STOP taking away the MMO out of the game. You have me on board now for DT with this MMO-focus. Keep that up and this game will be far superior to others for years to come. Honestly, hopefully the FF11 raids are better than the ivalice raids. Maybe it's a hot take, but the first two Ivalice raids are boring af and the only good boss in Monastery is Ultima. Thunder God would be good but I feel he takes way too long.
