I love your enthusiasm for MOTU! My vintage figures have long been in storage, but after watching your video, I want to dig them all out! Vintage Whiplash definitely has an edge over Origins! Fun story I feel you might appreciate. Back in the late 80s/early 90s, there was a store called Sears Surplus, which was a Sears outlet store. The one closest to me randomly had a Whiplash figure affixed to the ceiling, hanging upside down. Some prankster actually got up in a ladder tall enough to reach the ceiling and stuck it up there. Every time I went with my mom, I would always look for it!

You bring a refreshing perspective. Not only are you 20 years younger, with one fewer Y chromosome than the typical person talking about He-Man toys on KZbin, but even more rare is that you exhibit a great knowledge of toy manufacturing and its associated costs, which are shockingly high.

30 minutes of figures and no more than $40 was spent on any of them? Seems like you've come across a lot of great deals! Do they typically go for under 40 or did you have to patiently wait for a good deal to come up for most of em?
@collegetoycollector7 ай бұрын
There are a lot of common figures that you can get for $10-20. Figures that are incomplete and/or in bad condition are not worth much at all. Just about every vintage figure I have is complete, and in good condition. The more uncommon figures, as well as variations of a common character will go for more due to scarcity. Figures like “half-boot Skeletor“ is a variation of the original 1982 Skeletor; it is worth more because it was one of the first releases before they started painting both sides of his boots. Figures like “Clamp Champ” and “Ninjor” were released towards to tail-end of the line, meaning fewer were produced entirely, and kids who grew out of the line by that time didn’t own them either. Clamp Champ’s accessory is worth about the same amount of money as the figure itself. I see him go for $115-$150 at toy shows, and I got both him and the accessory for $40?! Another example of good condition vs bad would be “Webstor”, you can get one in not-working condition for like $15 maybe, but if his original pulley system is in tact, he’ll go for more. I think I paid $30 for him in a lot that I bargained for. I do a lot of “stalking” online for good deals on rarer figures. I don’t see myself ever paying full value for one at a convention. Sorry that was long answer 🤣 you get me talking about motu, and I won’t shut up.
@Sea_of_Waves7 ай бұрын
@@collegetoycollector all good 🤣. Yeah, stalking for cheap prices can be extremely tricky and requires a lot of patience, but it's worth it all once the thing you're looking for eventually comes up. For example there is this line of MarioKart 64 remote control cars that when mint in the box, can go for about $50-$120. I did a little bit of waiting and was able to snatch up a mint-in-box Donkey Kong RC for like 20something on Mercari. It's always a win when people selling the item aren't really aware of it's worth so you're able to get a good price on it
