As I was listening to this song, my mom had walked into my room and was about to tell me something, and stop to listen to this song. She then proceeds to say Mom: "Es el Yoshi?" Which in Spanish means "Is that Yoshi?" This goes to show how much I played this during my childhood and 20 years later, my mom still recognizes this song. That was a true blow to my feels.

It's completely normal to cry at this...Not only does it probably remind you of your childhoods, but the composer used a lot of 7th chords in this and they also alternate between major and minor throughout the whole piece, creating a "bittersweet" effect.
@rydiaofmist81906 жыл бұрын
+Tapu Kek it's not hard. Just listen to the chords. Fourth note being two halfsteps down from the first note in a chord is a 7th, one halfstep down is a major 7th, the second note in a chord being 4 halfsteps up is a major chord, 3 halfsteps is a minor chord. Any chord that skips the second note and just has the first and 3rd note is a power chord, which is typical with rock, punk, etc. It's pretty easy to recognize the distinct chords if you know how to write music. Each type of chord has its own distinct sound, and knowing it is crucial, in addition to the desired instruments to giving your music the desired feeling you want it to. All minor chords give the same effect as each other, the only difference being what note they're in, all major chords same deal, 7ths and major 7ths, etc. Example of a Cmaj7 is in John Lennon's hit song "Imagine". If you try to play it on a piano, you should recognize it. C, Cmaj7, F.

Was randomly listening to some old video game music when this song came up in the side bar. Clicked on it and was enjoying how soothing this piece was and remembering the game. All of a sudden 1:55 hit and the little Yoshies started to sing and... I have no idea why but I just started to cry. Not sobbing with sadness or anything but the tears just started to flow and they wouldn't stop and I was smiling the whole time as well. Every now and again I come back and listen to this piece and have a good cry, I know how weird that sounds but it just has that effect on me and it actually leaves me feeling pretty good afterwards.

Everything about this song just screams long-lost childhood to me... For starters, the recorder reminds me of a child playing and accoustic guitar is, at least in my country, a very common instrument used at elementary school. Then we have the yoshis' singing, which is relatively dissonant, but dissonant in a highly charming way reminiscent of a group of young children singing. The glockenspiel at the end along with the ritardando and with the book closing feels like your mother just read you a bedtime story and you're slowly falling asleep, already looking forward to the next day. To top it all off, the chords played by the guitar keep alternating between major and minor and there are many 7(9) chords and diminished chords among them, making for a extremely bittersweet feeling. No wonder many of us get emotional listening to this, especially if this was part of our childhood. The composer knew exactly what he was doing here. This game has a truly underrated soundtrack in my opinion. Also, I'm reading way too much into this.

Thanks Iwata. After our innocence is gone, we earn an appreciation for harmony and peace. Even though the world can be a cruel place, here's to making Earth a little closer to paradise every day for those we love. Let's give them a happy ending, shall we?

I had a dog I really loved growing up. I liked to think Kiki was yoshi and I was Mario. This song is in a playlist that makes me think of her and thanks to her I probably am the person I am today. I got a new puppy a year ago and I named him Yoshi.

Brawl Brstms3 X Has died... so I am here to revive a certain comment by James Reid that was in End Credits Music Brawl himself posted. It was a little more recent, but it’s the reason why I love Yoshi so much. Here is James Reid’s work: I think I have an idea on how to make this song even more touching... "Imagine this. From the moment their life begins, every Yoshi has a deep desire for eternal peace instilled in them. It’s like a hereditary instinct for them, always looking for a chance to brighten an otherwise dark world however they can, from battling the forces of evil, to reuniting babies with families. At the root of it all, their motives for any action revolve around one thing: All living being’s need for love. My personal head-canon for this game is that the Super Happy Tree is a physical embodiment of Yoshi’s natural desire to spread love. Furthermore, the Yoshi vocalizations are a phrase sung in their native tongue. It translates...to ‘True Harmony.’ Love can’t reign in a world full of hatred and fear. Thus, this song is a testament to how much every person needs love in their lives. And now... the lyrics... They start at the 0:18 Mark: From the moment life begins To the day it ends There is something That we all need Something on which Life depends: To be close to caring friends. If you struggle with your life We know where to start You may not know That the answer Is your beating Inner art: It’s all found within your heart. All people need To plant the seed For harmony For you and me If we want to set things right, we Drown the darkness with our light. *Chorus* True Harmony (4x) *Chorus plays four times* “ This comment was my life changer. I just had to put it here since Brawl is officially gone. Miss you Brawl, you were my savior! James Reid is also amazing for his work!

A song so nostalgic that bro will cry even after being dead? Actually, this song is the perfect "look back on the story and be sad that it's over but happy it happened," so this time, that checks out.
