I just bought a bone stock 07 DR 650 with 4,000 miles on it. Seeing how nice the Yoshimura looks and sounds on yours seals the deal! I’ll buy the SS header from Procycle and the awesome Yoshimura! Thanks for the nudge!

Congratulations Greg on the new DR650! It is amazing how few miles it has on it for a 07! The ProCycle header and Yoshi exhaust in combination with re jetting the carburetor really wakes up the motor. As has been said before, the DR650 is a blank canvas just waiting to be set up exactly as you want it to be. Thanks for watching and congrats again! Cheers!

Good morning, DOC. Yosh builds quality stuff, looks and sounds great. I went with the GSXR muffler and the ProCycle mid pipe kit with no repacking ...Love it! I enjoyed the quick reassembly and the cool overcast skies. Beautiful bike, looked like a great day for a spin. I was chatting with OW about a header pipe, something that flows a bit more. Enjoying the series, take care.

Morning VW! The GSXR muffler with the adapter pipe is probably a preferred solution for sure. Still love the Yoshi exhaust, just not the downtime associated with it. I might have to get the tools to repack myself. It was a nice day and I did go for a spin. Glad you are enjoying the series! Cheers!

Yoshimura is top notch. Packing is one reason it’s so light. I have a LeoVince that sounds just right for me and no repacking required. It’s light but probably not as light as Yoshi. GXSR hard to come by.

I had Yoshi on my 250L. I preferred the quiet insert in it cause otherwise it was loud. At least you don’t have to worry about that stupid graphite gasket in the mid pipe! I have a GSXR on my DR. I used an FMF spark arrestor but it recently took a leap so I just ordered one from Pro Cycle that will fit. Important for forestry in these parts.
@doc650adventures2 жыл бұрын
Matt, makes sense! Based on where you ride, I imagine a good spark arrestor and quiet insert are a requirement. Actually, I had originally ordered a FMF pipe but at the time it was taking forever to be shipped so I opted for the Yoshi. Great exhaust, just don't like the downtime. The GSXR muffler on your DR is the way to go for sure! Cheers!

Hello Doc, the Yoshimura pipes do sound great. That's a long time without it for replacing though. I would probably pick up a Delkevic for the downtime, or one of the generic eBay pipes for the downtime. Two weeks is too long to nto ride my bike! - Frank

I'm about 20 minutes from Chino. This could be a good option for an aftermarket pipe for me when I get to that stage in modifications. Nice that it looks like it is California legal according to their website. Thanks!
@doc650adventures2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob! You are so close to Chino it would definitely make sense to get the RS-2. It is an awesome exhaust system and the negatives would really not affect you due to your location. Combine the RS-2 with some jetting and you will wake up the Mighty DR650! Cheers!

Sounds cool for the first 50 ks after that it's deafening and not what I want for a long travel motorcycle. Trying to fix the deafening roar at highway speed.
@doc650adventures3 ай бұрын
@@ksut5917 It can be loud for sure. I normally wear earplugs when riding so it’s not an issue. Yoshimura makes a quiet insert which will supposedly reduce the volume. I haven’t used it yet.

@@Oatmeal_TVx If you’re talking about the DR 650, Yoshimura RS2 exhaust should work on a 2024. I would check their website to ensure it does work. All DR650s are the same from 1996 on (other than emissions stuff after 2022) that doesn’t affect the exhaust system

Roughly what sort of performance bump is typical? For ~$500 USD, is it at least ~10% hp across rpm range (or more limited)?

Someone care to explain what is "repacking"?
@doc650adventures2 жыл бұрын
I will give it an attempt llan. Repacking of the muffler/ exhaust is a process where the muffler is disassembled and the sound dampening material (kind of like insulation) is removed and replaced with new material. The muffler has 3 parts. The inner pipe (core) the sound dampening material, and the outer casing. Over time and miles, the dampening material is filled with residue from the exhaust coming out of the motor and needs to be replaced. Think of it as having to replace the air filter on your heating and air conditioning system. Repacking is a bit of work but worth the effort/ cost to keep the muffler/ exhaust at the right performance level. Hope this helps! Cheers!
@offroadtales2 жыл бұрын
@@doc650adventures great thanks, how many km are we talking about?
@doc650adventures2 жыл бұрын
@@offroadtales That is dependent on how well the bike is tuned (air/fuel mixture). I would say as a rule, 8,000 - 10,000 KM. The exhaust will still function, only the sound level will increase as the material inside fills up with residue.
@throttle_therapy00252 жыл бұрын
How often do you need to repack it?
@doc650adventures2 жыл бұрын
That's rather challenging to answer. If the carby is tuned properly I would say about 3,500 to 5,000 miles (just guessing). I will do a follow up video (update) later on to provide more info on the repacking cycle. You will be able to tell when it is time to repack due to an increase in the loudness of the exhaust. It is a great system and makes a significant change in performance. No regrets here. Thanks for the question! Cheers!
