Yotabu's Theme - Histrobea Chronicles OST

hello!! beyond excited to show off a little peak at what i've been working on the past year and a half in collaboration with @HoopsandHipHop . . welcome to the world (and soundtrack) of histrobea chronicles!! :3

it's a huge relief to finally be able to say this clearly, but: i'm the main arranger and a composer for hoops' upcoming game project!! think pokemon meets kingdom hearts (as I've had it pitched to me), 2D sprite open-world RPG vibes, wild west steampunk-y setting. this 3 track EP is just a small teaser of what we've been working on, and i hope you'll loook forward to hearing the rest someday!!! my personal goal for the OST is to make as many tracks as i can as catchy as possible, and enjoyable in their own right. i'm largely happy with the result so far and can't wait to share the whole thing ~
my exact duties often include arranging hoop's original concept demos and translating or (sometimes dramatically) reinterpreting them into a more convincing retro vgm type style. i compose some tracks completely from scratch based on direction as well. it's the first time i've worked so closely with someone else on their vision for so long of a stretch and on such a scale. i've learned and continue to learn a lot through the whole process! it's been a worthwhile experience overall and i'm goinna keep gooooooing to completion! thanks for the patience and support in the meantime :D

this will be heard as an encounter/event theme for a central character named 'Yotabu' . . . i wonder what sort of role he'll play in the story~~ :o
there was a demo for this one, but it was one of the demos that i mostly rewrote. initially, the flute melody at the beginning was a different and unique one, but i figured reusing the main motif from the title theme would be a good idea. :3 aside from that motif, inspiration for one of the chord progressions & the general direction this one should go in, most of the writing is mine. even in cases like this, it's useful to have a demo so that i can get closer to hoops' vision as fast as possible.
i'll be honest i'm soooooooooooooo proud of this one lol it might be one of the ones i'm most satisfied with so far. i think it sounds so . . . !!! mystical and mysterious!! and kind of deltarune-y, can i say that . . . like when the choir comes in . . . i think it's the chords?? well the delay on the piano has something to do with it too, but slay. it was fun to put together :) event themes are totally new for me really, but it's really freeing how u can take them basically anywhere. also sometimes quite challenging when the concept is far out of my wheelhouse, but this one went super smoothly
