Not boring at all. It's all part of the build. Stoked that you're painting the body instead of Raptor Lining it (the outside). I would love for a vendor to invite you to SEMA 2024 to showcase your skills. Your work is better than most SEMA builds, and on par with some of the best. I also love that you do all the work yourself. Definitely deserve more subs to this channel!!

Build a shield that would protect the alternator
@benjaminreinhardt2598 ай бұрын
I would run the low mount alternator until it becomes a problem. There will be plenty of minor issues to fix when you start taking it out. Will be easier to be motivated to fix it when you start enjoying it.

Leave the alt low. You aren't going to be leaving it in lakes over night. Ant seize the connections and if it really bothers you waterproof them with silicone.

I'm thinking some kind of shield for the alternator... several others mentioned it too. I need to get my FJ40's windows rolling up and down again. Had in barn and humidity got to it, so outside until I can begin replacing panels and getting windows back in operation. I was just watching the disassembly of your doors. Big help. Love this whole build.

Tundras have a low alternator and they seem to hold up pretty good. I would leave it and build a splash pan to go under it, Like the the other folks suggested. Only problem will be if you decide to go snorkeling.

I personally think it’s your vehicle and you do what you’d like with it. You put the alternator there for a reason. You don’t have to justify it or change it. If it doesn’t work out, change it later. Awesome work, I enjoy watching your builds, keep them coming!
@ronthompson23668 ай бұрын
Your alternator should be fine. The harmonic balancer is there as well. If you're going to be "forging " in deep water. Everything is going to get wet as is. Long time ago we made rubber splash guards to help some. Might even be able to fab a little tin work on the under side to block debris and some water. Coming down from the front bumper...

22rs put the alternator right at the bottom, I did have some issues with it but honestly if you just clean it after you go through some nasty stuff (which you should be doing anyway) just hit it with a little water and it should be fine

Hi there, I'm a huge fan of your work and amazed on how you built this project FJ40, I'm not an expert but I think you can keep the alternator on it's current position and just add a full skid plate or splash guard to keep it dry when off-roading.
@BansheeBridage8 ай бұрын
Cannot wait to see you kill it with paint! I was curious if you couldn't flip the hinge light brackets upside down and swap sides so they fit on the top half (Windshield) side of the hinge. Then you could keep them on AND flip the windshield down. There would have to an extra wire loop of course. I have not paid too much attention to the comments since then so sorry if this has already been talked about. Things sick.

I think the alternator is fine where it's at. Worst case scenario, run it like it is and if you start having issues then you can swap up the brackets and that bar. You shouldn't really have to mess with anything that can't be painted outside the rig
