you gotta cut the gasket in the upper middle location, then you pull it to each corner to make it seal and then you cover the cut gap with an aluminum piece or another piece of gasket 24:09

Your old break booster having a vacuum leak would have made it run lean. You adjusted to compensate for the old booster. Now you have fixed the vacuum leak so it’s running a little more rich. Good luck thanks for the video.

Get a sync tool, install your wideband and be patient. Weber tuning is an art form (one that I never fully mastered). I had a mildly built 22r with a single Weber 40 and a VW bug with duals. Both were happy as clams at full song but both had some sort of chronic low RPM drivability challenges that I was able to minimize but not totally get rid of. The brake system thing is known between the later pickups and tacomas, was going to mention it to you but wasn't 100% on it working with the really old trucks. My 87 (4wd) has a T100 master and booster, V6 2nd gen 4runner calipers and 80 series LC wheel cylinders. All 100% bolted right on.

I can’t wait for videos on the bed/ body work. I noticed the back glass had a gap on the bottom of the sliders. The easy fix I did for mine was to put a piece of old pool noodles between the two sliders. It evened it out and kept the rain, cold and wind out. Great build.

Never did catch the size of exhaust pipe, I’m a firm believer in letting the 22r breathe, I don’t think them motors need hardly any back pressure I run 21/2 inch all the way to where ever, and did you put any size performance cam in there, can’t tell , with those carbs and header, my opinion it would have been a plus, I’m running basically the same set up, with a 290 lunati cam, 10 and 10 on valves, it’s a sweet build, been running for 10 years, still getting 20 mpg, and that’s with 5.29’s and 35’s , but to each there own, it’s a remarkable build, and great videos on this truck, , love your videos

Use a 10 m.m. intake and 12 m.m.exuast clearance for valves. I had the same problem with a single HOLLEY 500 carburator on a Offenhoser intake for a 22R. It could be the jets are too big. Try #38 jets. You need a twin carburator fuel/air mixture tool on the carburators. When the timing is adjusted right it should idel like a model T Ford engine with a tink sound on every cylinder. Also try a HOLLEY 7 p.s.i. electric fuel pump with a 4 p.s.i. regulator for fuel preasure. That engine when it's fine tuned should get 200 + horse power on a Dyno machine.

Only way you’re gonna get a quiet high pressure fuel pump is by putting it inside the tank. I went through all that with my REPU and finally just bought a Holley Retrofit kit. 3” hole saw cut out the original pickups and dropped the unit right in the tank. Works great and can barely hear it.

i've got a lowered hilux running a highly modified 22r. swapped the low profile rims for a smoother ride. Speedo also bounces but is more rapid in finding the correct speed and it's sporadic, i've heard its the speedo cable and using grpahite powder or silicon spray can help with that if not then it may be the gears at the end of the cable (not a mechanic so not sure). mine sounds bad at idle (cammed) great once running. i've got bigger jets so it chews through fuel and detonates after turning it off if i've been driving it hard. Mine was neglected when i got it, i've put money into it but i'm learning so i fix things as i find them. Your build sounds very similar to mine and it's making me want to go for a drive. You are running rich because it is rich and not because of spark plug gap. Put the gap back to where DUI recommends. The HEI distributer has a much higher voltage and it is fine, by design! They run like that in stock GM applications as well as DUI's perfectly. Heck that is why you bought it to get the performance advantage of the ability to run that huge gap and get that awesome burn..Jet the damn carbs right or take it to someone who knows what they are doing. It is important to have a decent burn especially when the motor is new like that so you dont wash out thos rings with fuel. I have a old time weber book somewhere here that lays out really well recommended jetting for your application. I have used it many times over the years and if you want I can go try dig it out. It has helped me get real close with many dual dcoe's in the past in my different toyotas and datsuns. It is really good on sizing you emulsion tubes, jets, venturies, everything.. let me know

Viking’s and DIY coilover’s. Wish I could post a photo of mine on an 05 reg. cab Taco. Got the idea from a 1st. Gen Taco from TW. First set I had upper mounts water cut & welded then used a 2.5”x10” coilover spring (they come in many lengths & weights) Until I had a friend machine custom lower mounts to use OE springs on the front treaded shocks.

Try Boise Spring. For anything classic when it comes to glass and windshield seal. I've always heard Pilkington glass who make a classic series and Precision Seal. I'm not sure though If they make anything for Toyota's though. Give them a call. Maybe try a different brand seal Precision as the glass looks pretty good. In the 67/72 C/10 community they have found replacement glass is thinner and seals are not all the same. That's why most use what I've mentioned above.

I’d assume hardwoods are normally used for their durability. There are some cheaper hardwoods out there as opposed to a soft pine which, if you’re never going to haul anything may not be an issue anyway. A cheaper hardwood could always be stained for a different color, and make sure to use a spar-urethane for water protection
