I agree with the note about budget machines. I started a small business with a 3018 in 2024. The 3018 was not right enough for anything more than poplar wood and only after a few months and burning out my upgraded spindle did I jump to a real starter machine . It was night and day difference. I really enjoyed this video and thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community.

Travel speeds are more important on larger machines; as it limits how fast it can get from one end to the other when taking rapid moves.

Agreed with learning the software. Suggest everyone to learn the software (there are free software to learn) prior to the idea stage. Who knows, the idea may come during the learning portion of the software. Always start small to get a feel for what is needed to get to the finished product. Beginner here, but learned the idea, design to finished product stage thru a 3D printer. Used free sketchup software version to learn the 3D portion.
