Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Many people do not love themselves. They believe that because of some action or set of actions they are beyond grace or love. Which is entirely false. Because you exist, you are worthy of grace and love. And when you can love yourself, you can start to love and have grace for others. Great video. There is a lot to unpack in this short segment. "I can't experience me without you." Profound, and very true.

‘If you try to really control your mind and only think the thoughts that you think are good thoughts to think. You will find you are going in a circle’. At my 38, I just found out that I have been lived in protective and survival mode. Proved myself to family and community. Feel disconnected to everyone and even myself. Never realized what I truly wanted. Hope it not too late for this awakening.

Going in a circle because you are trying to control thoughts rather than believing in them. If you try to control thoughts such as "everything will be ok" but really you are thinking, that's not true - then you will get the negative energy, as opposed to what you are trying to think. You need to keep saying what you want and then believe it, and change your perspective. For example you dislike someone at work. When you catch that you are complaining about them or have angry thoughts about them. You stop, and you think truly why do you feel this way, observing not judging. You may then come to realise this person is struggling with other things, maybe something happened in their childhood, maybe you are FEELING it is worse than it is, maybe they have stress at work. That way you have more understanding, compassion or at least trying to understand their perspective. Then you sit with yourself and try to send them understanding. That means you replay over and over, maybe you are behaving this way towards me because of something that was done to you (or something other thoughts of changing your perspective on the situation). Then you keep replying that. Eventually you MAY get to the point where you feel you can sit with yourself quietly and send them good wishes, or even love. Then you may feel your "life" with this person changes. Apply that to every aspect of your life. Notice when you are complaining, don't beat yourself up, instead switch to gratitude and make these thoughts BOLD in your mind, or think about something joyful and make these thoughts big and bold in your mind. How long can you imagine the gratitude or joy for. Can you make it bigger and bigger in your mind? For example, do you "hate" your life but love your pet. You love your pet, but maybe you don't appreciate that enough. You decide to sit down and for as long as possible ramp this up in your mind. Perhaps you feel depressed. You then imagine your pet. You think about the cute parts of it. Slowly go over every cute part of your pet. Then you think about it's face. What do you like about your pet, you love it when it runs to you, or makes certain noises, or wiggles a body part or is happy to see you. What do it's eyes look like, happy? Then you make these things huge in your mind, going further and further towards them. Looking (in your mind) deeper into their eyes, or making the run towards you so amazing. Replay things over and over, say you replay them wiggling their tail, or making noises, or how they look to see you. Replay the JOY. Make it bigger and bigger. Imagining the cuddles and remembering the good times. If you do this with all things you could be grateful for, then you are creating positive energy from emotions. Importantly when doing this, make this bigger and bigger and look at it like a challenge to see how much you can make them bigger and how long you can do it for. Importantly you want to really feel your emotions. So you are really feeling joy and love, you can cry with feeling overwhelmed and "love"

And it's not possible to only ever think good thoughts. You are human. You observe what you are thinking and feeling as much as possible during the whole time you are awake. You have to practice recognising, so you can change negative thoughts, but you get better at it

I feel like there are moments where Alan Watts's words become a stream of consciousness that comes from the very center of "I" Like a strange primordial truth comes out from the center of my calloused mind... And since we are all an "I" , I am sure I cannot be the only one. This man's connection to "reality" is beyond impressive... Beyond mind-blowing.... It's almost scary. He must've ripped his mind in half following these thoughts processes through and MEMORIZING THEM! It's like he says, the simplest things are the most difficult to perform.... What a tremendous human being.

Cool video. My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

Certainly No intent here to criticize any part of this awesome video -- and obviously not Watts' words -- but I want to suggest that you edit the English narrative across the screen, as there are a Lot of places where the words are quite different from what he is saying (e.g., "...don't live by the rules of hell" rather than by "health"). For those who don't have audio capability, this would be awfully helpful.

lOA was taken from some line of hermetic principles and the term loa coined by those people. I remember when Bob Proctor and crew put out the Secret Dvd and it was 2 hours of cheese but the very beginning intro graphics showed the principles were from the Emerald Tablet ( not the emerald tablets of thoth for anyone stumbling over this comment ) but they never mentioned the tablet in any part of the mainstream cheesy money making video. But they did provide a clue and I got it waaaay back when it came out. Bob is a cool dude worth listening to.

I really like a lot of things bout this philosophy, but a question comes to mind. Thinking about the war and destruction going on, lets imagine a child experiencing that. How can we say that it’s “what their subconscious wants” or “its their karma”. My conclusion is that this philosophy only applies to certain situations?
@zhakran
@zhakran Ай бұрын
That's only because you lack creativity and see children as special and precious and innocent. A child is merely a human in the beginning stages of development. Are they more or less innocent or blameless than adult people who die via random accidents? You only think of a child as innocent when you think of the child as something that is defined by the boundaries of the child's physical body. But the child, like the rest of us, is far more complex than that. People will say they didn't ask to be born, but they did. They are the eternal being just as we are. And before we're born we realize it's a gamble. It's a huge risk. We could be born deformed or mutated and die painfully before we're even a child. We could be born to a family that doesn't want us. Or anything in between. Yes when children are harmed it's tragic but such is the gamble of life. And we all take it that's why we were born. Even knowing we may get a raw deal. There is no sense of justice as we humans would define it, to this world. There is only a constant interplay between various forces and the universe itself as a whole tends towards a certain kind of balance. Imagining that the life of an innocent child or even the life of the entire human population is a prerequisite for karma is simply a limited and myopic way of thinking

Ads on this video were annoying and badly placed. 8 ads (didnt even finish the video) for 20 minutes of watching is dumb. I blame the person uploading Alan watts trying to advance the human experience so they can profit off a dead man. Reduce the ads and do some work yourself.

My good sir,agree to disagree,Allen watts make more sense than any religion he have heard off . All religion’s are based upon the beliefs of rules and regulation,it keeps us on the right path. I enjoy listening to Allen watts with four ears,but you are not. My good sir listen carefully to this lecture, he is using all religion’s resources creating the illusion explaining it better. Now ,therefore if you use your third eye , you will see through the illusion and locate the image he is creating. Shall I tell you,he is unfortunately I have no time to explain further,attend to work but copying the oldest traditions or religion HINDUiSAM some Buddhism. Juggling all religions pieces,picking one by one piece and putting it together in to our minds beautifully. I have to say he is genius and I love his explanation of religion and the ways he brings it together magically. He is honest, because in lectures he admits to it, Now these three religions are perfect, but,they say it’s not the religion,it’s man in the religion.bye.

It is absurd, we overwhelmingly think to much about all that is. What is this? Why is this? Never mind it's nonsense and none of my business.

@@sammynazzu I've heard hours of his talks over the last 25 years of my life, not once at any point, or any talk, did it not make sense. Were you possibly raised in a restrictive religious household with low early nutrition?

Rules for healthy living, like exercising, eating a balanced diet, and avoiding smoking or alcohol addiction, might have helped Allan Watts live longer. Despite his wisdom, he ended up struggling with alcoholism and depression. This shows that philosophical thinking alone isn't the answer we should be seeking, as that way of thinking about existence can sometimes lead to self-destruction and depression. I love his philosophy but he is not an example to follow.

Why do you assume he wanted to live longer? Knowing the secret doesn't make you understand it. Your idea of "the good life" is not identical to everyone else's. Alan watts, just like the rest of us, got exactly what he wanted.

The secret of life is knowing when to stop. Who wants to be 86 years old ? Most 86 year olds have some sort of health condition!

And that's just as valid a death as any other. Why are people so obsessed with living. A babe who dies in the crib and an old man who dies at 100 after living the good life are really no different at all. Neither one of them really was here to begin with. And neither was this man you call Alan watts.

There are two types of listening. One where you just hear what is said and the other where you "understand." Which "understand" is a weird word cause when you split into two words you get "under stand" who wants to be under a stand? it should be "innerstand" cause you know through with your own "standing" or viewpoint. Alan Watts and other spiritualists like himself say a lot not to "blather", but for you slowly to digest it. When I means receives a lot of stimuli like words we don't always understand at the time what is being said. Some times when do not even understand when fewer words are used. Which comes down to another problem. Sometimes we are not ready to listen to innerstand it.
