This is so well made! The amount of details in each frame, the expressions and designs are soo good!! I love the slow slow tone shift, it’s so smooth and pleasant to watch, going from sad to cute and happy, possibly bittersweet, with still a bit of uncertainty and nervousness which is then disproved. It’s just overall a very nicely put story and an amazing character presentation. Loved it! Thanks for making this

Levin using doll selfishly is entirely understandable since he’s the one who created it. However it’s quite curious to see how he still displays emotions to it, like giving it seconds with the curry at the end, and how he told doll not to hurt itself. Is he perhaps using doll as a representation of someone else, or perhaps even himself ?¿ He’s the angel of loss, so did he perhaps build doll in place of this specific someone he lost ? But it’s jUst a theory keke (Oh yeah I was the one who talked about eye details in your previous vid, very intriguing to see even more sus eyes in this animation 👁)

Okay hi half baked theory time- I feel like the animation is more based off the character relationship, instead of individual backstory, so I'll be focusing on that. Levin, the (short) cynical germaphobic scientist, and the Hallowed Angel of Loss. And Doll, the Deadly Sin of the Greed as well as Levin's creation. An emotionless master for an emotionless puppet... Right? First, we'll start with Levin. One thing to note is that his name can mean “Dear Friend,” though I am unsure if this is the intended translation/if it’s a red herring, either way, something to point out. The few shots of him show him as a child (either that or he’s just small😭) with a blank/obscured face, commonly holding a book. He has a large eye motif throughout the animation, which is most likely important due to the importance of eye colours in the world. He can also be seen with a hole/void in his chest, contrasting to Makeda’s heart. Another interesting thing to note is that an image of his hands gripping a stick appear with the words “Not Enough.” I believe the foot is Doll’s, due to the joints, and while I’m not sure who the clock refers to, the eye and the change of lyrics from “That leaves no point” to “No Time,” is telling. The next frame also has modified lyrics, from “An unfilled relationship” to “A human with a purpose.” Another thing to note is that he seems to have a close tie to the neon blue, seeing as most of his backstory/trauma scenes have that colour, and at 1.51 his eye is a dramatically brighter blue. This makes me wonder what the respective neon red represents, but not enough info is known about that yet. Now, Doll. Now the first thing I want to point out is that in an old insta post from 10/2019, says “An inanimate doll without a will nor soul, who was eventually revived by Levin and follows his orders only.” The “revived” part sticks out to me the most, as the other information is still confirmed to be true. I have no clue if this is still canon, and I doubt that it is, due to how old it is, so I won’t be using this as evidence. Doll seems to care for Levin, offering him his food, and the motive of the heart. I want to note the fact that these two are definitely not romantically involved (confirmed by Mei themselves), and I see it more of a father-son sorta familiar relationship. Now, this all contrasts to what we’ve been “told” about Doll. That it’s an emotionless weapon of mass destruction who only exists to follow Levin. But, throughout the animation you can see that that might not be the entire story. Doll has emotions, and it definitely shows them, even if they’re slight. Looking sad when it holds the pieces of the heart together, looking sort of melancholic and disappointed when it looks at Levin, surprised when Levin helps it by picking something up. This doesn’t exactly paint a picture of a heartless robot. A parallel between it and Levin is also the shot of it standing in front of a mirror, with the words “A tool without purpose.” Another thing to note is the colour of Doll’s eyes. It does not follow the conventional eye system of the world, and instead, simply means what “mode” it is in. Green is the default, red for combat, blue for analysing, grey for unconscious, and yellow is unknown. There are few times where Doll can be seen looking at Levin with blue, or analysing, eyes. Now, what does this stupidly long winded explanation say about their relationship? Well. While not much is known about Levin, I’m taking a wild guess and saying that he had large responsibilities as a child and was someone who was revered. A heir maybe, but seeing as he’s an intelligent scientist now, I don’t think it’d be much of a stretch if he was one when he was young. I believe he’s researching something. He has a purpose, and he must fulfil it. But, he seems to have his struggles, or at least some doubts. “Not enough,” “No time,” are some examples of this. If anything, we just know has/had a lot on his plate. Doll, on the other hand, is a weapon. A being made for a singular purpose. From day one, it was always meant to be. But I don’t think Doll wants that. It wants to help Levin. It wants to be the knight to the king. But no matter how hard it tries, Levin doesn’t want that. He doesn’t want to rely on Doll. Doll is simply stuck as a weapon without a battle, a being that is just… there. A toll without purpose. In many ways, Doll and Levin are two sides of the same coin. Levin doesn’t want help from others. He wants to be alone, he wants to suffer alone. He doesn’t need help, he needs to do his work. He needs to fulfil his purpose. He’s used to it. Doll on the other hand, sees how Levin is struggling, and wants to help. It wants its purpose to be helping Levin, but Levin can’t accept that. It leaves both parties feeling alone, isolated. Strangers to everyone. A void in their chests. (This can also be evidenced by the fact that both Doll and Levin seem to have shots where they’re watching the other Angels/Sins and their relationships with each other). And yet, in those final few scenes, Levin accepts it. He sees that, really, Doll cares about him. And in turn, he gives him the curry. IM IN TEARS THIS WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS LONG THESE ARE ALL HALF-BAKED GUESSES AHSUDHAJSKDH😭😭😭 Thank you to anyone who has the mental fortitude to actually read this novel bc wtf

Excuse me??? What the fuck?? This is SO FUCKING GOOD?? I adore this so much and I love how you showed these two being shattered but then finding some peace in each other? The single shoe becoming two, Levin telling Doll not to hurt themselves and then later Doll repeating the same thing to Levin? The very end when Doll sits in front of the "curry with no meat" across an empty chair only to turn around and find Levin with the meat, the other half so to speak. I love it. And the way you attributed the angels and sins to other parts of the song (That short part with HotBoi and Naoki slapped the soul out of me) and of course the animation on it's own. It's all so wonderfully done! I really hope you manage to make that webcomic and that it becomes a major success because to say that I'm invested would be an understatement. Take my like.

Okay okay hi hello I'm back I'm going to ramble about this masterpiece. So it starts out with Doll being hungry still, a hole in the pot, asking for seconds and Levin saying he doesn't want anything (METAPHORS) and then going onto the incomplete unpaired things that make no sense on their own. There's a few frames of Doll in the lab looking at the failed experiment opposite him and holding a hand to his chest in?? I would say a slight loss of innocence?? Doing VERY interesting things to his psyche, I'm sure. The bags of trash frame with the hand twitching eyes slowly looking at you??? BEAUTIFUL I can't really make out who's talking when- I think the font changes slightly? I'm going with the more robotic looking one to be dolls voice- which holy FUCK does "you do not want anything?" hit hard then. Paired up they mean something catch me crying in the CLUB. Also I LOVE that you switch around the lyrics of songs. Amazing. Oooh the my avatar frame is interestingggg is it Levins guilt?? Doll's anger??? I am Looking. Also the knight imagery is just,, chefs kiss. Holy SHIT I JUST REALISED THAT GLITCH AND THOSE BEAUTIFULLY DISTURBING IMAGES WAS DOLL HAVING A PANIC ATTACK/ FLASHBACK!!!! WHICH IS EHY THEY DROPPED THE PLATE!!! GODDAMN!! The plate scene. Do I even need to say anything. Stunning. Art. Not a single person drawn completely yet their entire backstory is drenched in that one frame. Doll's panic and insecurity and them crumbling the plate in defeat. Levin bending down to pick it up and Doll immediately bending down to help. "Don't hurt yourself." what the fuck. My heart. Ooh and the IRL images overlaid with Doll's outline is so well executed I love it. And then!!! So much backstory!!! Just flashes of images but you can put so much together!!! Levin as a kid!! Him becoming an angel and all he went through after!!! Making Doll to cope!!!! Holy fuck!!! And then he also lets go of the plate, brimming with uncertainty and wondering if it was a mistake, seeing all his past gory experiments and wondering if it was worth it, if he really actually wanted Doll around forever to love (as a platonic friend ik I read the description) AND THEN!!!! JUST AS HES THINKING OF DOLL AS EMOTIONLESS!!!! SOMETHING HES MADE AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF!!!! DOLL TELLS HIM NOT TO HURT HIMSELF!!!! AND ACTIVELY REACHES OUT TO HEAL HIM!!! FUCK!!!! AND HES SO SURPRISED BY IT TO MY DUDE YOURE GONNA MAKE ME CRY!!!! The lyric-less beauty of all the things paired up and complete. Why do u insist on my tears. High art. More emotion encapsulated into it than the entire last decade of Hollywood. Them finding each other. The things PAIRED UP AND COMPLETE- And finally. The rejoint plate and the full pot and Levin bringing seconds and the smile. Beautiful. I love it.
