Brendon, these are the best videos you have ever produced. The combo with Drew and Dr. Kwon have given me knowledge of pressure shift and body movement that I have struggled to understand for the past 20 years. I never got this from Hogan's five lessons, nor Tiger's book, or Ernie's book, or the Golf Channel. I am telling you this is the true secret to the golf swing. Thank you for what you are doing for the game of golf and us golfers. I am very grateful.

It is actually in the eagle part of the hogan book. Most people skip it though.

@@BEBETTERGOLF I never picked up on it in Five Lessons in the "Fisrt Part of the swing". He states, "On the Backswing, the order of movement goes like this: Hands, Arms, Shoulders, Hips." He then goes on to say its the reverse for the downswing. The body driven swing does not sequence like he references. I never got the re-centering and the pressure shift with the upper body square to target as it falls to center. The Kettle bell drill really teaches you how this pressure shift and upper body moves to re-center works. Its amazing. Anyway, I am glad to know how this action really works in the golf swing now. It actually reminds me of the A frame and the shift turn shift turn of Mike Austin's teachings.

This video regarding the ball of the right foot was very helpful in completing what I was missing in Dr. Kwon's instruction. I played this evening, and implemented this. Great results

This is a really great lesson on pressure shift on the balls of your right foot and using vertical force. I realized during the backswing the weight went to the right hill and I couldn't use the right leg to initiate the pressure shift.

Thank you so much. Such precious insight. I found recently after doing kwon drills I saw better contact and speed. But i lost the swing speed again and my contact went out the window. Videoed my swing and I introduced a massive slide :( this video is so helpful. Thank you. I love the analogies and the example of ballerina. Got remember it's more of a dance and very dynamic rotation.
@sirtogii52162 жыл бұрын
Brilliant video this. Reminds me of the Marcus Bell mantra: "It's a primitive movement that we already know". Same throwing a ball, hitting a bat, striking a tennis ball etc. Golf instruction lost the basics and therefore made it so complicated focussing on "positions" as if they matter in a dynamic motion. How it's taken this long to figure out they were all down the wrong path I don't know. Tennis and all other sports didn't need force plates, GEARS etc to understand what needs to be done. Gold needed it apparently because instruction was so bloody wrong from the start.
@danpianki52052 жыл бұрын
While I understand and agree with your sentiment, I think the main difference between golf and tennis, baseball, etc. is that golf requires that the clubhead make very precise contact with the ground. That fact increases the complexity and difficulty.
@sirtogii52162 жыл бұрын
@@danpianki5205 The main difference is that the ball is static and it's hard for the brain to "react" to it. The movement should be the same way but as you say the skill is then to learn to to catch the grooves right. However, providing you get the movement right it's a heck of a lot easier to get the strike right. The margin for error increases at least 10-fold if you deliver the club correctly and that requires the movement to be correct (chicken and egg and all that). Amateurs (myself included) are giving themselves very little chance to get good contact with the ball as an early release at the ball basically just gives you a tiny nanosecond where the conditions are correct. Too early or too late and strike suffers. Good delivery means it doesnt matter much if you catch the ball slightly early or late, the ball still flies towards the target with desired trajectory. When I played tennis, yes there was instruction on how to grip the racket in order to facilitate a top spin forehand but that was 1 minute. The rest was how to move in order to get time to swing at the ball. The body quickly learned how much you need to swing up in order to get the ball over the net but inside the lines.

At 16:08 I spoke of Hogan and his shoes. Not a longer spike(incorrect) but he had extra spikes added to his shoes and in particular under the ball of the right foot

Interesting video. Do you never move to the heal in the back swing. Don’t you need to cycle round to the heal in order to start the pressure shift. Thought gears showed this in most pros? Cheers

Does Dr Kwon ever talk about foot flare?
@555Trout2 жыл бұрын
All good. I might add that sometimes the best way to think of pressure shifts is to simply de-weight one foot. Players often are looking for movement of upper mass to create pressure. Which is not correct. When one can instantly 100pct weight pressure shift by just lifting a foot. Of course you will be momentarily suspended and then falling into the lifted foot. But it ends up that's the exact sensation you want in the golf swing. This has often been a light bulb moment for students. Use your knees to pressure shift. It reiterates the need for things to move fast. Because you are falling as soon as the pressure shift occurs. For every too fast golf swings I see, I see a hundred too slow.
