This was one of my mothers' most favorite songs, and she could be heard singing or humming this tune while she cleaned house, made our meals or mended our clothes. She has been gone over seven years, but I can still remember her singing this tune when I was little. This song holds such a special meaning, and it brings a joy to my heart and tears to my eyes. We love you mom, and we know God now has you with Him. Until we meet again, loving you always.

As a kid growing up in Livingston Parish, Louisiana we sang this in school. And yes, I remember Jimmie Davis and Earl K. Long when they were the governor of the state. I’ve heard this from Hong Kong to Norway. I also remember the day Jimmie rode his horse, Sunshine, up the steps of the state capitol in Baton Rouge. This is one of the state songs of Louisiana.

My Dad sent me this last year for my birthday as I've always been called his Sunshine. He is no longer with us and I have this to listen to. We'd play it on our acoustics together 💙
