Jermaine broke away from the Jackson 5 group because he wanted to marry Berry Gordy's daughter. And he was tired of taking beatdowns from his father and from pressing them to work so hard. So when he married Barry Gordy's daughter that was the end of him and the Jackson 5. I don't think that they spoke for a long time and Jermaine said to the group that he was upset because they didn't include him in anything but he's the one who left the group. Everybody else stayed in the group and worked extremely hard and I think that Jermaine was tired of Joe Jackson's physical and verbal abuse. And Jermaine was my favorite.

Jackson's left Motown because Motown didn't know how to write for them because they were growing up and they wanted to write their own songs so they had to leave to do that! the rest they say is history~ Jermaine solo career with Motown never did much..He should have stayed. then he eventually ended up divorcing his wife...So how'd that work out for him?? he should have stayed with his brother's . this does negate his talent value..just saying~~ :)
