To know: Abidjan is the set of 13 municipalities which are the size of a city each. All municipalities are independent with a mayor in each municipality. Yopougon (we call Yop city) is very large, it is the largest municipality in Abidjan, Yopougon is larger than the city of Paris. Yopougon is the liveliest town in Abidjan, it is there that you will see Ivorian gastronomy and its diversity, street food, maquis, shows, night clubs... You won't be able to visit Yop in a single day. In any case, have a good stay in the country of hospitality. 🇨🇮❤️

Long post alert.....😀😃 Commenting from Nairobi, Kenya. Congrats AT for another great one. I have asked several people here in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya who are in decision making positions to take a look and REMIND themselves that their transportation planning leaves alot to be desired. All too often in Kenya, people even those in professional circles have very cloistered thinking on certain issues such as what a transportation system entails. It normally tends to center around the false notion of building roads is only about putting a black top on, and then finito. They never pay attention to other forms. The county govts at the coast as well as in Nyanza MUST have a paradigm shift with regards to water transportation development, and take the advice of engineering professionals very seriously, but alas, ours is a country with a long history and tradition of ignoring such sound advice. In fact they totally omit the right people from key decision making. A sad commentary on our state of affairs but certainly the cold hard truth. I think i saw the name of the bus service to be MONBUS, so maybe you can show us around perhaps on a Sunday to avoid the crowds on working days. Thankful that there is an African country that agrees that matatu madness is not the way forward. Also, i like the fact that you go and show us around poor, middle class and rich suburbs to tell us the truth about how people actually live. Some people from a certain country i wont mention insist on you going only to "nice" places as if all people everywhere live comfortable middle class/wealthy lifestyles. Just show us as it is. Andi do think maybe you speak english a little too fast for your guide who is doing his level best to understand and respond. You speak "un peu Français" but its improving. Mine is a total disaster. Put in the hours and hit the books/internet and you will be shocked at how fast you will improve. I have said before that once you learn french, you will unlock half of africa and we in the so called "Anglophone" world will see and hear from our brothers and sisters in the "Francophone" world. Ditto for Portuguese language for you to unlock for us Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde etc. Ni hayo tu.

There are so many water bus station in Abidjan but the one you took is the the oldest one, I took this boat bus when I was still a kid it made me a lot of memory, blue taxis are for Yopougon, the most popular city in Abidjan Yopougon is so big that there are at least 10 neighborhoods, the common and balanced between the poor and the rich there is no difference there are people who have become rich but they prefer to live in this district because they were born and grew up in this municipality. All the municipalities of Abidjan have their own color of taxis but the red taxis are metered taxis, this go to all the communes of Abidjan, you have to negotiate with the driver so that he does not start the meter, this will save you money from your journey but the new yango taxi system came to ruin their business.

Also by hearing the side french conversations that he is having with the people around i can tell that he is a very nice and genuine young man. You are in good hands. Thanks for your amazing unfiltered coverage. Also not sure if the guide explained but there are different kinds of Attieke. Attieke abgodjama is the top tier. It’s very fine and different from the average attieke. The lowest kind of Attieke is the attieke that they sell with garba. The garba attieke is very cheap but still very delicious. Also you should try to have a plate of garba. It’s the typical working class meal. It’s fried tuna with pepper and attieke

Yes, each district has a communal taxi color. These are taxis that people ride together without knowing each other. You also have normal taxis that only 1 person can ride. Regarding villages, Abidjan was originally a village to the tribe called Ebrié. It is still their village. But the city developped with the villages still in it.

Abobo Doumé is an Ébrié (pronounce Ay (like in Day) Bree and Ay( like is Day) village. The Ebrie people are the native people of Abidjan. All the original Ebrie villages around which Abidjan was built had remained intact except a very few that was relocated. So you will see real villages like in ancestral times right in the midst of the city. Abobodoumé is also a village and not the actual city of Yopougon.

Congratulations to you for your efforts, if you continue you will speak fluently. What you mean cassava couscous? You cannot make couscous with cassava. Couscous is made with durum wheat and taste totally different from Attieke. Attieke is nothing like couscous. Have you ever heard a Morrocan say that couscous is like durum wheat attieke? Attieke is Attieke period. Have you ever heard a Nigerian say that Gari is cassava couscous? Gari also is made of Cassava and not really too different from Attieke. Stop using other people reality to describe your reality because you have an inferiority complex towards arabs and white people. Couscous is couscous, attieke is attieke, plain and simple.

@@8674k what emotion got to do with the point I am making? As of Moroccan, they do consider themselves Arabs and they speak Arabic. Their Kings claim to be direct descendants of prophet Mohammad of Arabia who was an Arab. Arabs invaded Morocco and mixed with its berber population. So Moroccans consider themselves both Arabs and Berbers or precisely Arabo-Berbers. Once again Attiéké is not couscous and you cannot make couscous with cassava. It is very silly to call Attieke, Cassava couscous. Makes no sense.

@@koffijosefernandezkonan3387 So then have mercy on him he is trying, give him a break, it is good too that AT is trying with her French too. We should know how to speak many languages so when we travel to another's country we are able to commiserate with them, we will then get friendly people to deal with us and this is what happened here with AT, she went in having a notion of the language and so everyone wants to help her. Give Denis a thumb's up! Where I come from SAINT MARTIN (Caribbean), we speak several languages but the anglophone and hispanophone remain hostile with others because they believe everyone should speak their language, this give you a one track mind and no mental emancipation. Good that you make an effort. Languages come natural to me.
