video explanation (spoilers for all of critical role campaign 2!): 0:15 molly awakens from his grave for this first time 0:20 m9 arrive at the evening nip to meet the gentleman 0:22 cree recognizes and greets molly as the person she knew him as: ‘lucien’ 0:32 molly pretends he knows what cree is talking about yes he is lucien for sureeee 0:39 m9 notices and are suspicious/curious about why molly’s so uncomfy 0:48 m9 confront molly about cree/his past 1:04 molly explains that he woke up in a grave with no memories and red eye tattoos on his body, and insists he doesn’t want any part of whoever ‘lucien’ was nor does he want to know about his past. It’s his body, his life now 1:07 molly alongside beau, caleb, and nott at the battle against lorenzo trying to rescue their kidnapped friends 1:08 beau gets hit badly n molly tries to protect her by using some of his blood magic but his attempt fails and knocks him down 1:14 Lorenzo finishes him off, killing him with a blow to his chest, though not before molly spits blood in his face 1:24 beau, caleb, and nott are horrified 1:36 the now rescued jester, fjord, and yasha visit molly’s grave 1:40 time skip to when the m9 return to molly’s grave, only to find it empty. Jester tries scrying on molly’s body, and sees it alive and walking through a snow covered environment 1:44 the m9 arrive at Eiselcross for a job with Lady Vess DeRogna 1:46 oops the m9 discover Lady Vess DeRogna dead the next night, slain by “molly” 1:48 “Molly” + his party the Tombtakers and the m9 meet for the first time. But this isn’t molly… it’s Lucien (he’s back babey) 1:56 beau and caleb reading Lucien’s mystery book. It starts off with journal entries of its writer exploring the ruins of Aeor, before descending into nightmarish scribbles after the writer goes into the astral plane seeking the city of cognouza. Unbeknownst to beau and caleb, the eyes of nine take their hold on them 2:03 jester gives lucien a tarot card reading, paralleling the time when jester and molly first met where molly gave jester a card reading. 2:08 lucien pulls three cards for past, present, and future: ‘history and the dream’, ‘the tyrant’, and ‘death’. Lucien’s hand twitches. 2:12 the m9 and the tombtakers retire to caleb’s magic nein-sided tower for the night, only for the m9 to realize that the tombtakers have stolen their bag of holding that had the threshold crest in it-- the last item the tombtakers needed to bring the nine eyes and the city of cognouza into the material plane 2:19 this parts more symbolic of lucien betraying and leaving molly and the m9 2:28 the m9 go after the tombtakers, intending to steal back the threshold crest and stop the tombtaker’s plans. But its a vicious fight: 2:30 lucien’s nonagon powers create an invisible anti-magic cone, untransforming owl-caleb and leaving caleb and caduceus plummeting to the ground 2:32 lucien grabs beau by the throat and severely wounds her with his blood magic, using the same move that killed lady vess derogna 2:37 beau gets sad remembering this tiefling used to be her friend :( 2:42 o yea did i mention? Beau and caleb got eye tattoos now that they were trying to hide from lucien cause they read the journal with nightmare scribbles in it uh oh 2:47 unable to find their own bag of holding with the threshold crest in it, owl-jester steals the tombtaker’s bag containing a threshold crest in it so the tombtakers still have one too few than what they need 2:48 owl-yasha is untransformed as one of the tombtakers (otis) magically drags her back 2:49 yasha (now with wings!) manages to just avoid the anti-magic cone that would make her wings vanish and pulls caleb out of there 2:50 lucien does to caduceus the same thing he did to beau, owie :( 2:52 veth(aka nott) successfully creates an illusion of caleb that lucien falls for and goes after, realizing too late it was a distraction as the m9 desperately try to flee 2:56 cree tries to stop the m9’s escape with the slow spell. Fjord tries to counterspell it, but otis tries to counterspells fjord’s counterspell, and caleb successfully counterspells otis’ counterspell which allows fjord’s counterspell to successfully prevent cree’s slow spell from affecting them. (triple counterspell... heckin wild) 3:00 the m9 flee (Beau was transformed into a mammoth because she got real low on hitpoints :( and mammoth body will let her keep goin if she gets hit) 3:16 lucien is not molly. :( 3:25 timeskip to when the m9 and lucien arrive at the city of cognouza in the astral plane. The colourful lights are meant to symbolize the ‘aether of potential’ during the m9 vs lucien battle (and because i really didnt want to look for images for a flesh city background) 3:29 lil more symbolic; the fragment of lucien’s soul that is molly is trying to help his friends in the m9. Lucien is scared and angry towards molly, even in his powerful neo-nonagon state. Molly and lucien grip the tether connecting them, and molly rips the tether, separating them. 3:45 Outside, the m9 watch as the killing blow is dealt and lucien..or perhaps molly? ends up ripping himself in two. 3:49 The bloodied body lays on the ground, eye tattoos fading as the eyes of nine are vanquished and the normal quiet of the astral plane returns. 4:01 the m9, or rather caduceus and his goddess the wildmother, return life to the body. And Kingsley wakes up

The fact that both of mollymauk’s final acts were inflicting fatal bodily harm on himself in an attempt to save his friends is heartbreaking. First it was against Lorenzo, when he tried using a blood maledict, only for it to knock him out and allowing Lorenzo to kill him. The second time was up in cognouza, where some fragment of him regains control momentarily, and rips himself apart in order to save the nein from Lucien.

Oh my god, I don't normally comment on videos but this blew me away, this is in every aspect perfect and gorgeous, the emotion the symbolism with the color fading away as Lucien and then regaining color after Lucien was defeated. Holy shit.

GOD THIS WAS FANTASTIC. I am so excited to see all of tm9 in your style it is SO GOOOD. The imagery and style choices you used are wonderful I LOVE the eerie white lineart of unfamiliar people..the real backgrounds are so cool and i looove your snappy editing! This is so raw and real I found myself replaying parts countless times because they made my jaw drop in awe that I HAD TO SEE IT AGAIN RIGHT AWAY... this is so. REAL. The snow fight is terrifying and you portrayed the desperation and unease so well throughout, another absolute gem by you! Knocked it out of the park. Thank you for sharing

ough oh my god i love everything about this. i love love love how you used motion blurs and red and OIUGHOHO the real world background images, it's all a lovely collection of things and the music is so good. im bad with words but with this is my favorite cr animatic now

AAAAAA THIS IS SO AMAZING! I don’t watch critical roll but I still felt all the emotions and everything all the same and it came out super well!!!! The animation and everything is so good especially that fight at the end and dhdhdhdhdhdh AahagagAAAAAAAAA sCREAMING RN

If your interested they are starting their third campaign on Thursday. You could check in to see if it interests you. It's a DnD show run by a bunch of very talented voice actors. You could start with one of the first two campaigns but fair warning they are very long (about 500 hours each) and follow different groups of heros in different continents so you shouldn't need to watch them to understand what's happening. Also I suppose that since this is a channel that uploads a lot of warriors animation I should mention that it does have a lot of sexual jokes and should probably not be watched by someone under 13.
