there is a legend that after the battle of waterloo, when napoleon managed to escape, an interesting event took place, namely when the prussian hussars were chasing the remnants of the french army, the polish uhlans of the imperial guard together with horse rifleman made the last charge of the napoleonic wars in which they managed to repulse the prussian unit.

Fun fact: A bunch of the Poles sent to Haiti got sick of all the horrible warcrimes and defected to the Haitians. To this day there's a small number of Haitians with incomprehensible last names whose ancestors were in the Polish Legion.

I read a book on these Poles, fucking incredible... They often outperformed most French regular infantry units in combat, and particulary the Lancers and Voltiguers of the Vistula Legion were badass. In Spain and Russia, there were some badass moments were they had to take the frontal charge of an assault, and would come out on top, irregardless of the circumstances..

Poland is generally a very underrated country. It's a pity that a country with such a rich history and culture is not as appreciated as Spain, Germany or even Russia. But interest in Poland has been growing for several years and in 2023 we were the 17th most visited country in the world

Funfact: polish guard lancers were actually the ones who counter attacked the Scot’s grey along with Dutch guard lancers also known as the red lancers for their red uniforms
@Chhunspl96 ай бұрын
That's true but actually the royal Scots were routed and attacked by the Regiment Of Chevau Leger Lanciers (French lancers not the poles and the Dutch), so the charge of the polish and the Dutch lancers are just depictions in the movie Waterloo, They were actually attacked and routed by the chevau leger lanciers.
