They’re two type of fishermen..There’s fishermen that fish with a bunch of different poles and enough tackle to start a small fishing shop and there’s people like me that only needs a couple of packs of senko worms and 2 packs of hooks while catch 3-7lbs bass on the regular with one pole.

Half way through your video I hit the pause. I want to comment on your choice of baits. Living for over 35 years down here in south central Florida I have bass fished most of the lakes here and there is many. I have used many baits on the banks as well as many lakes. Back in 2021, my bought me a new shroom floor Ranger rig that I just love. Anyway, my PB is 11.8 pounds with several 10 pounders a few 8 and 9 pounder all released back after a picture is taken. I love to see them swim off healthy. Ley me get to the real point. You are spot on about the June Bug. My choice is the June Bug red. I tried the others but my PB came off the June Bug red. I did catch a 9.10 pounder off a Green Pumpkin red glitter Senko. I rigged it Texas style. These fish were caught from 8a.m. to 10a.m. Now on 7/23/24 at 8:30a.m. (and with a full moon) in 9 foot of water around lily pads, I caught a 10 plus pounder that scared the crap out of me. I was so surprised as I thought I was hung up on some lily pads. Once I saw my line move, I knew it was a fish. Point being, it was a 7 inch June Bug red. Bingo. Now to the rest of your video which I love.

It makes perfect sense that a black worm would work well in clear water. Leeches can be quite dark, even black in color. Many fish eat leeches. They also occur in a much lighter color very similar to green pumpkin. I imagine plastic worms in those colors mimic both earthworms and leeches.

I pretty much stick to one box per type of bait. I don’t see the need for more than that because down here in florida you don’t need a ton of colors. The basic colors, green pumpkin, black blue, June bug, watermelon red, that’s it. In other baits I stick to shad and bluegill color patterns since that’s what the forage is. For topwater, bone, white, black, clear. If you stick to these you won’t have 40 to 50 boxes o& baits and lures and have no idea what tackle you own. Fisherman focus WAY too much attention on baits versus learning bass behavior to locate fish. Once you find where the fish are located they will usually hit a variety of baits. Catching bass actually is that hard, finding them however …

For real. I often catch myself buying lures that look good to me. Mr. Bass can go and get his own lures. I'm trying to get down to just two boxes, one for UL and one for normal fishing with the hope of being able to cover most situations. Do your worms melt into the plastic boxes? If not, what's the secret?

Ty, check out the Plano 3701 5-34 box. It’s thinner but has 5 row instead of 4. Two of them are slightly thinner than a regular 3700. I did exactly what you suggested…I emptied each one of my over crowded Plano boxes and organized each one by color and then made some tough keep or cull decisions on baits that have just been riding around taking up space. The thinner 3701 boxes fit into the lockers a lot neater and I have more of the baits I really use.

Lately I've used plumb colored soft plastics all year long covored tons of water an caught alot of bass. The red just seems to draw fish in. Also I've used a more natural smoked shad color with blue Grey with silver an blue sparkle an bass have crushed those as well. Now all I ever used is smoked shad that has silver an blue sparkle with blue an Grey color an the colors amazing looks like the color of an actual fish the plumb is amazing too. These are the only colors I used. If water is stained I've use black an dark purple color that works great.

I have two 4'x8' peg boards full of baits. I'm addicted to buying tackle.. HELP!!!!!! I also have 12 Plano 3700's a worm box and two spinnerbait box's. I spend $300+ on tackle a month. Last month I bought that much and a shimano Curado dc 151 HG. These Christmas sales are killing me, I can't control myself. My new years resolution is to not buy any more tackle unless it's terminal that I have to have. So I have to buy 2 more rods that I really do need, so I'll do it in next two weeks.

Just found your channel and subscribed. Awesome content for an old guy getting into bass fishing. What's your opinion of a black with red flake?
