Wow Joy, your knowledge of sewing is amazing! I do watch Becky every weekday and learned how to do Snapplique. I am in Nevada so I don't watch the live, I watch the replay. I love this blouse with the design on it. You work at sewing a blouse until it is perfect. Joy you are a perfectionist and I love that. Thanks for the videos you do, they are always interesting.

You made putting a dart in very easy to understand. I have the Palmer and Plesht book but it was like reading Greek. So while driving an 18 wheel semi truck through Sacramento I learned how to make my clothes as nice as yours. Thank you from this 66 year old female truck driver. You make my driving time so much better.

Thank you so much Joy. Your explanation is very good and I can really understand how this works so well, believe me with my figure. I need darts more than anyone. And yes if you could make a video using the sure fit design, that would be great as I have that system but haven't used it for ages so a refresher video would be fantastic.

I still put my cardboard cutting board out on my bed ! Works just fine, then I can leave my sewing machine out on the dining table most of the day. Since retiring, I have half my wardrobe home sewn and almost everything fits nicely - thank you Joy !

Hey Joy, I don’t make clothing anymore. I’m mostly into crafts and quilting and machine embroidery more than I do and sewing but I thank you for everything that you do for us. I love watching you. You’re so much fun and educational and a good sense of humor and you’re so kind. We need more people in the world like you. I hope you and Jerry have the wonderful Thanksgiving day🪡✂️🧵❤️🦃

Love the shirt and the purple pumpkin was meant to be. Great stuff on this video. I had a couple of nice days to relax and work on a skirt muslin. I’ll be at the hospital a good portion of the day getting a endoscopic ultrasound sound. Finally will find out exactly what is going on with the cancer. I’ve had 2 good things from God and all the prayers that have been said for me. There is no cancer in my chest area. Also I saw the surgeon and he is not so sure about cancer in my bile ducts. Tomorrow’s test will determine it. I would really like to see how you match store patterns to SFD master pattern. Have a wonderful Happy Thanksgiving with Family.

For an idea, I would love to see how to stabilize and embroider something on a knit shirt. I have an embroidery machine but have been afraid to use it on a knit tee shirt. Thank you for making sewing so easy.
@Joy4650B23 күн бұрын
There is a video from Kimberbell Designs that explains how to stabilize knits so they won't stretch. I can tell you: DO NOT stretch the knit fabric at all in the hoop. Also, you will probably need two stabilizers underneath and maybe one on top. Watch Kimberbell. They have lots of videos.

thanks Joy!! I spend more time altering patterns to fit then I do sewing them. but it is so worth it. I just added a bust dart to a simplicity trench cost pattern and then altered the rain flap for bust dart that I then rotated out.

Thanks for the great lesson. I recently made a top with a v neck with a facing. It didn’t turn out as nice as I wanted. The v didn’t come to as sharp a tip as the pattern showed. Can you give some tips on how to do necklines with corners and facings so I can see what I am doing wrong?

Oh joy, thank you thank you thank you so much for doing this video. Again have learnt so much from you.❤ I would love to see you doing an SFD blouse pattern from scratch also pants pattern from scratch again. I know you’ve already done it but I just love watching how you do it every time I watch you I learn a little bit more. Thank you once again really appreciate you doing this video .❤ Lynn in Australia Ps I love all the tops you were wearing the black-and-white one I’m assuming that’s a woven? And was that an SFD or a Fitness blouse? Ps again Looking forward to seeing your scanning cut as I also have one in my room which I think I’ve used once in two years so to get a refreshing course from you would be absolutely fabulous but I am off to buy some glitter heat transfer vinyl thanks Joy ❤

It is a repetition, but as I said before, with other of your videos, you are a great teacher, an have an entertaining way of explaining things. Maybe tacky for some, I always put darts in knits mostly French darts. According to Peggy Sagers and others, as long as the dart ends in the bust circle, the dart is OK. It may help beginners if they miss by 1/8"when measuring, providing they stop the dart before the bust point. The bra used linfluences the height of the bust point.
@Joy4650B9 күн бұрын
Yes, that is all correct. I prefer to aim at the apex. In a knit, you have to be careful not to get too close.
@virginiakasselman595323 күн бұрын
Hi Joy I like the top you made but to me it looks like it’s a bit too full in the lower front around the middle I still see a ‘waterfall’ ? The color is pretty and I love the pumpkin and the purple or lavender color is a nice accent Happy Sewing 🧵

I agree with you. I could take more out of the side seam or turn the one dart into three. It will suffice as it is for now.

Joy, I'd GREATLY appreciate a tutorial on how to make a neckline smaller. I know how to raise up a too low neckline, but making a too wide neckline and making it smaller, my shoulder seams off and the whole thing just gets wonky! Please help!
@Joy4650B18 күн бұрын
Okay. Thank you for the suggestion. I will do that real soon.
@kararhodes668223 күн бұрын
Why isn't your side seam straight? The seam from the arm hole to the end of the bust dart is straight and then you have this awkward side seam down the rest of the top. Usually, in patterns, the bust dart sticks out from the side seam and you press the dart down. Time stamp: 51:01 for reference.
@Joy4650B23 күн бұрын
I looked at 51:01. I don't see what you are referring to. The side seam is perfectly straight.
@kararhodes668223 күн бұрын
@ I was referring to the underarm seam. The underarm seam goes straight to the end of the dart rather than the dart sticking out 5/8 inch or so and then goes straight down. I find it awkward. I hope that makes sense as it’s hard without being able to point it out. I like watching your videos for how you do alterations but this had me stump.

Joy I did my first FBA on a pattern. I had to take 1/2 inch out of front neckline. The back neckline is to big. How do I take that extra out?
