You are a top notch seamstress. Thank you for always trying to help us!! You're so right - I stared at my embroidery machine for a long time before I got up the nerve to try it. I have a friend who is afraid of her serger. Totally get what you're saying about being afraid to crack open the surefit design master pattern,

I actually came up with a wearable "muslin" my very first try with SFD. I was using the Shirt Kit, and it was a bit loose, but I still wear it. I have a friend who bought a cover stitch machine and has never opened it. When you buy an expensive machine, it should include an instructor to arrive at your home with it!

Joy recommended Surefit years ago. I never bought a commercial pattern since. Easy to use, lots of free videos, a free learning part on the site as well as paying lessons. Both Glenda (retired now) and Elsabe are great teachers. Joy is the third great teacher of the system.I also like the fact that once you paid for lessons, there is no time limit to watch them. Once a basic fitted top and/ or bottom, one can build from there. There are also follow up lessons to bring the basics to the next level. I also have the FitNice books and patterns. I actually use only the books, for inspiration. I prefer fitted clothes with darts .

Thank you for that great description. I put darts in Fit Nice, as you know. More ease and easier to put together quickly.

@Joy4650B27 күн бұрын
The Fit Nice Pants are pretty easy. Judy basically has you add to the top of the pant so you can figure out exactly how high you want it in the crotch and show where your waist is by putting elastic around the top of the pant. That is how I do mine now.

I love the all in one facing on the SFD shirt. SFD pants are the best fit for me waist, high hip, low hip, and crotch. I am thinking of redoing some of my SFD patterns. Sewing has been little haphazard with all the medical appointments I’ve been going through right now with my cancer. I’m doing ok right now and my chest scan came back negative. Praise God. Every other day I read healing scriptures and every other day I just read at least 2 chapters. I’m hoping to be in sewing room Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I have the procedure that will tell what stage cancer is, if it’s in lymph nodes, and how serious the surgery will be. On length of tops. You do what makes Joy happy. I like what Peggy Sagers says of making them your wrist length.

Wow Joy! I LOVE that outfit and color on you! All your garments look so nice! I have Sure Fit myself, but since I have lost 45 pounds, I am having the dangest time fitting, of all pieces, the BACK! ugh. Been round and round with Janine and finally had to just quit. I wish I could find a fitting buddy near me, but haven't had any luck. I have no idea why the system fit me right from the original tracing when I was larger. Go figure. Always happy to see your videos pop up in my feed.

Oh, my! I am so sorry. I KNOW the frustration that can cause. Perhaps you need to watch Elsabe at SFD, South Africa. She has a class you can buy, and she is super nice to help with any issues. She has a strong accent, but you will get used to it. I love her teaching. A really good thing -- and you may have done it -- is to send pictures. Front, Back, Side, etc.

@@Joy4650B I have watched Elsabe. I am considering taking her class. Janine was a lot of help. It was just taking so long it was stressing me out more than it was fun so I had to take a break. :) I traced out a pant kit pattern, and go figure, it fit me perfectly just from the Master with no tweaking. Maybe I am just backwards! LOL

Thanks Joy but… Any chance you could do a fitness system blouse and show us how you move the dart to the bottom because I have no idea and I’d love to know how you do it. Thank you once again love all your videos. Lots of love Lynn in Australia.

You can take your well worn “original “ pattern to blueprint shop and have them copy it. Joann’s has Pattern Ease. I’m not sure if it’s still that wide now. Used to be 54inches. Thanks for the video🇺🇸🙏✝️

I love that outfit with the orange pants and your new blouse. I have had a Scan and Cut machine for over a year, it’s still in the box. Ugh!
@Joy4650B27 күн бұрын
You MUST get that SNC out of the box and set it up. Buy some Heat Transfer Vinyl and try it. Allbrands has LOTS of videos on how to use the Scan N Cut. A girl named Courtney Douthat teaches them. They are weekly on KZbin. I may do a new video since you left that comment. Let me know when you get it ready to use Kathleen! What model do you have?

I am very very short and would like to see how to shorten the waist darts and where they need to stop. The sure fit system darts are way to long for me.
@Joy4650B27 күн бұрын
Interesting about SFD darts being too long because there are so many different sizes and lengths. However, you can decide how far away from your apex you want the dart to stop (the point of the dart) and you can use the dart template to make it stop there. I usually go back an inch or inch and a half.
