I think you're an amazing singer (although I haven't had the fortune to hear you live :( ) and I just adore the way you use channels like these to reach out to your audience and to other (younger) singers. What I notice is that the exercices you do are really 'vocal' exercises. But how do you 'warm-up' your body? Do you do breathing exercises, yoga, sports, core training, whatever...? Or has it become something like a 'natural thing' that you don't have to think about anymore? And on a different topic (but still related): when you go out on stage to perform, are you still thinking about technique at all? Or are you completely 'acting' as the character without any technical or musical distraction?

I'm also curious to know if you maybe could make a video on some of things dramatic voices and dramatic sopranos deal with in comparison to the things say lyric sopranos deal with. Like struggles of rep, what maybe your voices go through in sickness, acoustic challenges, voice being too loud at times, issues with conductors, vocal differences and experiences as a dramatic voice say then lyric or smaller voices etc.

Is it possible to strengthen your middle voice from airy to really strong like your are doing?
@tamschloo7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Anytime you feel any air escaping, think of not blowing out your air or getting rid of your air. Think of spinning and of resonance, NOT volume. You're not looking for a loud middle you're looking for a flexible and secure middle. On any exercise that you want, try thinking of producing sound on an "inhale." It's just a way to trick your brain into not overblowing. Also, your breath coordination needs to line up in a way that you aren't "tucking up" or overblowing your air. Think of a steady consistent stream. In order for that to happen you will have to temper your appoggio or, to put it another way, balance how much your abs and diaphragm are dancing. They have to be working together the whole time, when one leads or follows too long, tension or lack of tension (air escaping) can happen. I hope that helps. AGAIN, I always want to stress that any advice I give is based on what works for me, I haven't heard you sing personally so I can't diagnose exactly what you're doing. I hope this points you into a direction of self discovery for what will or won't work for you. All the best!

Hi Tamara, do you do breathing exercise before warming up? Thanks. :)
@exitstageleft23796 жыл бұрын
rafael pacifico hi there! I will do a calming breath technique just to get me started. Inhale 4 counts hold 2 counts, exhale 6 counts hold 2 counts. Repeat the process until you feel relaxed and in tune with your breath. You can use it as a challenge also to train for longer phrases all you have to do switch up the count numbers. Another exercise is the do scales on lip trills until your air is completely out, each time trying to go a little longer than before. I’ll do some percussive exhales with my lips in an “u” position. Just some staccato exhale pulses (kind of like you see in movies when women are giving birth). Really engage your abdomen, your tummy should move a lot. Ps that’s not how your breathing should function it’s just something to get the breath ready to work. Like a stretch before running. Hope that helps!
