“A women is as old as she looks and a man is old when he doesn’t look”. Gotta love that. Thanks for the show. Really enjoyed it.

I found the sequence with Wade Ruby vs Groucho quite amusing, and Edna Kinchen fitted very well into this little "verbal combat" too. ;)

I agree but would go further - I found it utterly thrilling to experience the product of 2 deeply well-read men and exceptional wit talent.

Henry Jacobs was a pioneering sound artist, and is still alive at age 89. He broadcast over Berkeley station KPFA and released many records over the Folkways and Fantasy labels.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I have many Fantasy albums-- some great jazz was released on that label. I wonder if I have some that he engineered!

The Wikipedia article on Henry Jacobs is very interesting, and the station KPFA has quite the history as well.

I loved this show as a kid because I knew many of the answers and learned from the ones that I didn't know.

Loved this old show since I was a child. Of course I get more of the jokes now tho. This episode is particularly witty with the English professor. 😻

Today's young people simply MUST watch Groucho's exchanges with that English chair fellow Wade Ruby. . . starts at 12:50 . . Edna gets in a couple funny quips then it resumes. Groucho shows poise and his own learnedness. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this in today's humor.

Around 0:48, here he is mentioned again, the jolly jockey Pearson from the episode aired Jan. 6th '56. :) This time as a more lucky winner from (an) other game(s)...

Wade Ruby was right @ 14.14 -- it was Richard Moore that wrote: Hymn for water by Merrill Moore: Go get water, water is good to drink, Water will drown better than wine will drown Certain sorrows that will not go down...

Entertaining but some don't realize or care that they are a team to discuss the answer. Says a lot about some of these folks.
