Jim Messina is such an underappreciated guitarist! And besides the great playing his tone was always amazing.

The guy on the red guitar is Paul Cotton. Paul wrote In the Heat of the Night and sang it. Paul joined Rusty back in August 2021 in Heaven. RIP Paul and Rusty

Twas at the Maverick this night (that whole season)..Jimmy lives close by and often shows up to try things out...it's a little gem of a bar they toss everyone out of when comes show time! Santa Ynez, Calif- great little place with really good acts.

Saw Jim Messina the other night and he included this song in his set. No pedal steel, but it still sounded good!

Actually I dont think Poco did that song live after Messina left. I saw them in 72? and maybe mid 70s. Paul Cotton was playing lead, sort of, Really Rusty did most of the really hard slide stuff. Richie had so many of his own songs, but I didnt go to every show, haha. Would have liked to.

Just became aware of this reunion, Saw Poco 4 times in high school with my girlfriend (Sweet Jane) always as an opening act for others Also caught Southern Hillman Furay Band around this time. Great period and memories.

When I first saw Poco at the Warehouse in NO I thought about my buddy George L.cuz the band opened up with a big fat groove w George Grantham playin the paradiddle lick that is George Lawrence' favorite device. Rock on George!
