Have you read the first YOU book? What did you think of it?

@@cassiehumphreys1222 when the show was released, were you happy with how season 1 compared the book?
@cassiehumphreys1222 Жыл бұрын
@@cinekizzle Yes Definitely, it made Joe much more human in the books there is no relateability ,Which is great for character in a book but it doesn't translate to screen well so i think they are both the best versions of themselves. Also Santino Fontana has the best audio book voice in the world although it is creepy to think that Joe is Hans for frozen :)
@susanmichele957 Жыл бұрын
I listened to both books on audio long before the tv series was made. I had to wait a year or so to watch the show, because I think I just needed a little distance from the book before I could get into the show. But, once I got into it, I was hooked. Every season has been great. I have really enjoyed your videos, as well. I am excited for the 5th season.

Now that I think about it, Joe at the end of season 4 being that way might be just so people wouldn't sympathize with him, just like the creators wanted.

If you like the audiobook narrator, Santino Fontana, he's actually an actor! Both TV and Broadway. He plays my favorite character in a show called Crazy Ex Girlfriend. If you enjoy musicals at all you should check that one out. He has an amazing singing voice.

Great video you explained everything so well. I’ve watched this show intently and I’m debating on reading the books now

You should! I'm trying to make time to read the rest of the books while we wait for the final season

@@cinekizzle 😂 I’m not sure I want to experience the joe in the books. Might just ruin the show for me ngl but it would be interesting none the less. I can definitely see what you were saying about picturing the scenes from the show while you read the books. Id 100% do that cuz I’ve watched the full show 3 times in the past couple months with 3 different people

@@qwickhelp7553 I'll report back after I read the second book, because I think when the stories start to differ it might be easier to see the two different Joes. I had to stop opening netflix and start opening hulu because every time I open netflix I just end up watching YOU lol

Solid review, I actually look forward to seeing your thoughts of Book Joe after reading/listening to the other books, because there is a noticeable difference in Joe by the time you get to book 3. P.S Now I need a Spencer Hewitt hat, where'd you get yours??

Thanks! I can't wait to get to the other books, it's on my list I just gotta find the time. As for the hat, I just bought a navy hat off amazon and quickly stitched the name into it the night before recording lol

Book Joe's narration is very funny and caustic, which is harder to convey on screen (without resorting to lots of voice over). The book also spends a lot of time satirising "high" vs "low" art ( i.e. serious literature vs trashy genre fiction), which acts as a mirror for how Joe sees himself and Beck (i.e. a sweeping, all-consuming romance vs a perverted stalking/kidnapping case). In the scenes where Beck is in the cage she and Joe don't read Paula Fox or some other highbrow literature together, they read Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. The book is very self-consciously satirical in a way that I'm not sure the show is?

Honestly? I prefer TV Joe because he’s seems like a nice guy and that’s what’s terrifying, a handsome, sensitive, thoughtful and cultured guy that is good in bed, a catch right? But beneath the surface, there’s the obsessive, manipulating and selfish killer. That’s more like what the author had in mind when describing her inspiration for Joe in my opinion, the dark truth or optic of the “prince charming” in every Romcom
@cinekizzle7 ай бұрын
Yeah I definitely find show-Joe more entertaining because of that. Like he seems one way to the people around him but we the audience get to be clued into what he's really thinking. It's a lot more fun that way

How does joe kill beck in the books?
@cinekizzle11 ай бұрын
After she tries and fails to escape from the bookstore, Joe angrily strangles her. She seems dead so he gets sad. But she wasn't actually dead yet so she trips him and kicks him but he ends up overpowering her and angrily strangles her again. And then he gets sad again lol

what if, part of joes whole talking to his fixation about his life in his head and being the unreliable narrator means that this whooole time the alter side of himself that was reese in season 4 was in him since season 1- like what if this whole time show joe has been book joe but the show is a manifestation of his unreliable narrator, to himself even, and the false reality only collapsed in season 4 ykno- do u get what im saying? anyway i love how they tried to make us sympathize with joe in the show but it honestly didnt work he still deserves the chair in my opinion

I heard about the books from the You subreddit. I read people's thoughts and pics of the pages. I seriously need to read the books! They have been on my radar for a while. I finally started reading You. Book Joe is worse than Netflix Joe. I got Patrick Bateman vibes from Joe. I've been loving the book.
