I got engaged at 19. We stayed together for 5 years and I never got excited for the wedding. I don’t even think I looked at dresses tbh. I felt so confused as to why I had no interest in planning it. I would joke and say plan it and I’ll show up like how a lot of men are when it comes to planning the wedding. In retrospect I just wasn’t paying attention to how unhappy I was and how we weren’t meant to be. I ended up leaving that relationship with PTSD and a whole lot of problems. I thank god that he gave me the strength to run. Im 29 now and finally found someone who makes me excited to think about being his wife and spending the rest of my life with him. It’s a trip to think about the difference of then and now. We’ve been through so much together and we’ve remained a team against our problems instead of our problems dividing us. It’s nice to finally have someone like him by my side.

Young marriages can work. My sister was only 17 when she got married to my brother-in-law (In the UK, you're not allowed to now, but back then you could marry at 16 and 17 with parental consent. This year is their 25th wedding anniversary and they're happy together. My dad's friend also married his childhood sweetheart when they were very young. Although they eventually divorced, they were together for over 20 years and things only started to get rocky the last 2/3 years of their marriage

Second girl is way too physical and verbal towards her man, AND she's mad at him for not feeling comfortable with her fuzzing the line between clientele and friends, which he shouldn't have to put up with. He needs to leave her, and she needs to get therapy. My mom was a high-class stripper for almost 20 years. That industry destroys relationships, and it's not exactly good for the girls' mental health and safety either. To this day, my mom has a stalker who has ALL of her info and my info, which he had gotten by bribing the security at one of her gigs. She's lucky that he didn't come to take/harm us or my dad. She had, however, trusted a photographer too much who drugged her, held her captive in his basement for about a week, and--well, I'm sure you could guess what else he did during that timeframe. He had the audacity to show up at her other, "regular" job (after "graciously" releasing her) with pictures he had taken of her during that week and proposed to her (yes, he was that delusional). She ended up losing the baby he forced to exist, and the way the hospital removed her son from her re-traumatized her because they tore the baby to pieces while extracting him. Even before entering this industry, she had many reasons to not trust men, but then she got in a relationship with my dad. Her paranoia would cause them to bicker over the most ridiculous of things. The only reason they stayed together until I was an adult was for my sake, but it was not exactly the best environment to be in with everything going on and the cheating accusations left and right. That industry is not--and never will be--something to choose over a relationship where the other person seems to truly care about you. If you wanna be single and do it, fine, but you cannot ignore the level of danger you put yourself in when you're in that environment full of lustful, obsessive people and co-workers who aren't exactly trustworthy in any capacity at the end of the day. Even the security who is supposed to be there to protect you can sell you out for the right price. You cannot be in a good, healthy mental headspace in that environment, and the lack of sleep certainly doesn't help anything. If the money means more to you than love, leave the relationship--don't drag someone into the world with you and demean them for not being okay with what comes with it.

The biggest thing that makes me crazy on Steve's show are the women who say about their husbands/boyfriends is "I can change him!" or "I know he will change - I've seen his potential!" You CAN'T change a person, man or women, for your own benefit. If you need them to change what were you attracted to, to begin with??? Especially when dealing with abusive people. You aren't going to change them! It's ridiculous!!!

This is why I tell the younger women in my family DO NOT attach yourself to a man at a young age through marriage or a baby. Live your life, date different types of men and learn what you actually need in a life partner & a father to your future children. ALOT of these young men will see your potential & your light and trap you just so you can’t surpass where they are in life. Some men will sell you a dream to get you emotionally attached and gaslight you while THEY date around. I’ve seen it too many times, bright young women falling for a man that just wants to put them on layaway while they still shop around. Once the woman wakes up and realize that their being place on a shelf for a mans convenience, they’re never the same. They’re emotionally broken and their light has dimmed, not to mention if he GAVE HER kids (b/c best believe 95% of the raising kids will be on her). Now the young lady is bitter & mad due to all the years they wasted and all the time it will take for them to heal. You cannot change a man. Young ladies stay away from broken men, follow your dreams, and trust your intuition.
