My friends cousin lives in Oxford and he says its a nightmare so other councils are doing this madness. Like the Hunger Games film. Everyones is having trouble to get contractors to be-intreated in working. They had a leak and had a nightmare trying to get a plumber. It cost them so much to sort the problem out. You can’t run a city, town or city by push bikes only or horse and cart. The more the councils TFL/Mayor of London screws the roads up the more population goes up. Scoot Traffic light system he runs. Thats why more traffic lights have gone in. More Roundabouts with traffic lights in. Used to one or the other. If these vehicles were all were blowing fresh flowers out the exhaust they tax that too as TFL and the mayor is to then charge you per mile and how long you are in the zone. Hence the 20mph zones. The longer you are on the road the more you pay. Parts of London are £11.80 per hr to park for a builder plus congestion charge at £15. Its not the builder who making that. Plus when we put that charge on the Tax man says we have to add 20% vat on top as we are charging for part of out service. Councils and TFL and the Tax only profit from this madness. They should be looking to balance their books better and not get the public to pay for this again. The boroughs of Greater London should start to pull out of London and go back into Surrey, Middx, Essex, Kent etc. Then TFL would not roll out there plans on them

Claiming something as a business expense does not make it free. It just can be deducted from taxable profits. So your choices are: 1. If you normally would charge say £50 for a service, increase it to £62.50, a 25% increase in cost, and possible get no business at all 2. Absorb the £12.50 cost and take a 20% hit on you labour. Assuming you make a profit, you benefit from knocking the £12.50 off your profit. Assuming tax at 19% You have saved £2.38 in tax, outlaid £12.50, still Over £10 per ULEZ charge down. Claiming as a "business expense" only marginally mitigates the expense, it doesn't get rid of it.

Cheapest vans around for Euro 6 he is right 13-15k min for a half decent one, that’s done under 150k. Of course going in daily is very costly, despite being able to deduct it. The cost just has to go to the client. If they have deep pockets then fine if not you are losing trade. Always the bottom of the food chain biggest impact. Reality is the self employed van drivers and trades have zero security if unwell or work drops off, going in daily is totally unviable in Euro 5
@KeVIn-pm7pu11 ай бұрын

@FiscalWoofer11 ай бұрын
@@KeVIn-pm7puare you self employed? It may look like some are earning tons but the reality is very different, no security, no back to back jobs, all down time is worrying about where the next job might come from. But the company covers downtime, sick, NI, tax and book keeping, van, client marketing, client follow up, website, equipment, tool hire, other subs, accountant, insurance, parking, etc. So yes they go from earning £100/hr to £150/day. That tells you how much many self employed actually end up taking home. Costs are sky high and yes the ULEZ is another one that for some will push the cost of service so it just doesn’t make sense for the cost and hassle. :(

@The__Watchmen__ Жыл бұрын
I have a 2015 diesel car, which is non-compliant with ULEZ. I have driven behind so called 'compliant' petrol cars which pollute far more than my well maintained diesel. A lot of the post-2005 to 2015 'compliant' petrol cars actually pollute a lot more than my diesel, as their engines are older and a lot of them are not well maintained. People are now leaving very efficient diesels and flocking to highly polluting 'compliant' 40 yr old "classic" cars and older polluting petrol cars, just to meet some arbitrary non-sensical rule. I need diesel as I cover nearly 30'000 miles a year, and fuel costs would be astronomical if I switched to petrol. All my vehicle costs, including fuel and ULEZ are covered out of my post-tax pay. This whole ULEZ scheme feels very much like a personal attack. Either the Mayor bans all pre-2016 cars, including petrol and 'classic' cars from the ULEZ zone, to make the penalty fair for all, or he quadruples the current measly ULEZ grant of £2'000 to keep in line with current cost of vehicles, which at the moment for a family car, is about £16'000. If the Mayor and these climate zealots really do care about air pollution they will put their money where their mouth is and pay for the change they so eagerly want to see.

Why not introduce this ULEZ charge when electric vehicles are in abundance, affordable and are the majority on the road????????
@kevinyoung2469 Жыл бұрын
Charging £12.50 a day on ULEZ is the wrong solution. The most polluting cars, vans and trucks should be removed from the road via stricter emissions checks at MOT. The new emmissions MOT should also apply to all new cars vans and trucks under 3 years old as some of these would not pass due to excess capacity and tampering or illegal modifications. The emissions standard should taper down to the new zero emmissions deadline 2030 when all the polluting vehicles should to be removed from the roads. Rapid charging infrastructure needs to be implemented by the government at an accelerated pace to also meet the new zero emmissions deadline and a generous country wide vehicle scrappage scheme needs to be introduced by the government. It is the government that needs to be pushed into action by ULEZ protesters as they have promoted Net Zero and know the dangers to the country of climate change but they have done very little to practically implement the new technology needed and allocate resources to enable the country to achieve it.

@georgef822 Жыл бұрын
Sadiq Khan is in a different world and I don't think he understands how much trouble this will cause for millions - maybe he just doesn't care. The vital point is that if these vehicles are so environmentally harmful then why not just ban them rather than using them as a cash cow?. It's strange how these damaging vehicles suddenly become ok after you've paid the ULEZ fee. They're either harmful or they're not?. Why is it ok to pollute after paying £12.50?. I worked out that if you're driving in to the zone 5 days a week for 52 weeks a year, this will cost people and businesses over £3200 extra a year for one vehicle. That is money people simply haven't got and will put many out of work and out of business. Where do people suddenly find that extra money if they're already struggling?. The people most likely to have an affected vehicle aren't suddenly going to be able to find thousands of pounds to replace their vehicles. And public transport isn't the answer for most people. It's fine if you live in London or a major city centre and have an office job but on the outskirts it's just not practical, especially for people who work irregular or unsociable hours. I for one, hate public transport, everyone is packed in like sardines and I don't feel safe using it at all. The freedom and security having a car allows you is also unmatched and I wouldn't be able to rely on public transport to get me everywhere. For example, a bus to go from my nearest bus stop to the town centre takes 1 hour when I can walk there in about 20 minutes - that is ridiculous.
