YOU can CUT your GRASS when WET, all you have to do is choose the right mower and order of which to cut them, If the grass is wet you need to cut with a rotary mower first this will help not squash the grass down, and then once done with that if the ground is firm then continue on with the cylinder to avoid getting a white haze over the grass sward.

Cool. Post some pictures.I'll be doing the same tomorrow. Fleece on top for a week to 10 days - depends on germination time. I've got a mix of fine fescue and fine ryegrass this time. Ryegrass germinates in 7 days, fescue takes about 2 weeks

Hi Daniel subscribed to your chanel and amazed at the finish you achieve on your lawns. I normally electric rake my lawn spring time to get rid moss and do a weed and feed fertilizer but never can achieve the finish you can, I have a 30 year old alloy mountfield roller mower for stripping grass which lifts and does an excellent job but a tonne weight. Should I scarify instead of raking and to what depth, reseed as I always end up with bare patches,top dress in kiln dried sand or Jack's magic I'm not sure which . Thanks Robbie.

Question on cutting length. I often see you cutting at 1 height with rotary and then lower with the cylinder. I know not to take loads of in 1 go but if I do 2 cuts on the same day at different lengths would it still damage the grass?
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert 2 жыл бұрын
No cutting with the cylinder after negates the damage caused by the rotary, the rotary creates suction that lifts the grass up before cutting, so you get the bulk of the excess off then fine tune with the cylinder at micro increments, thus avoiding the white haze you get after cutting when wet
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert 2 жыл бұрын
Its difficult with the rotary as 3 for example could be good but then 2 is too short theres no middle ground

Hi Daniel, another informative video thank you. I noticed on an older video you were heading up to my home city of Sunderland with a customer I believe to watch a match? Let me know if you plan to next season (in the Championship) and I’ll meet yous for a beverage. Quick question please - I’ve applied Weedol to my front lawn (a bit late in the season I know). I have some A1 pre-seed fertiliser to hand, it’s 6-9-6 which is different to your rise and shine 11-5-5. Can I still use the pre-seed to give the lawn a feed whilst killing the weeds? If not, I’ll wait 4-5 weeks for the weedol to do its thing, then scarify, Johnson’s premier pitch to overseed, and a feed

Good stuff Dan, thanks for this. I overseeded my lawn on the 10th of May following your process. It's coming on a treat. Only fail is I forgot we're going away for a week next week. Should I cut it slightly shorter just before I go - or just the same height? Luckily i've purposefully not fed it apart from what's in the Jacks Magic.

See if you can pull the seedlings out by hand - if they come up easily then don't verticut or scarify for another month. If the roots are strong then you can verticut

Hi, newly subscribed and love your videos. I’m a hobbyist lawn addict 🤪, at least I’ve become one since I started caring and watching KZbin. I have a problem with weed grasses in general. My rear and front lawns differ in terms of seed used, sun exposure but both are side on to an arable nature walk of fields. I’ve killed off both and re-seeded using different types to accommodate the sun differentials, I’ve improved the soil, levelled ect but I’m faced with killing them every year and starting again or just accepting my lot. I scarify and aerate and have recently tried verticutting to combat them. Main offender to the rear is poa and to the front crabgrass. I mow every three days with a push cylinder and so my clean ups with a rotary set higher, basically just as a hoover to remove seed heads. I long for what you create. Any and all help appreciated.
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert 2 жыл бұрын
Just because you kill the lawn off you dont kill the millions of seeds left behind then you scarify bring them all up to the surface then the problem starts again , once killed off you have to remove the old turf aswell and start from a blank canvas with fresh rootzone
